Well, the really important thing is being healthy. At 5'3", 120 is probably a fairly healthy weight. I would definitely say less than 110 would be too thin.

In general, one pound per week is considered a healthy amount to be losing. More than that, and you're either just shedding water weight, or you're putting your body in a position where it thinks you're starving...It will then start storing everything, and you'll end up gaining weight.

If you really want to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you take in. If you're already exercising, there are essentially two options. One is to exercise more. The other is to eat fewer calories.

Vegetables are very low in calories...eat lots of them. Also, drink lots of water as this will not only make you feel full, but also help your body to process everything better. You'll need protein, too...chicken is a good option, as it has less fat than beef, in general. You might also consider tofu, since this is really high in protein, and very low in calories.

Please be very careful with how much you lose...You're very young still, and your body needs lots of nutrients in order to finish developing.

Check out the websites below...These may help give you a little perspective to understand where your "ideal" weight should be.

I think it is incredibly unlikely that you will look more attractive if you drop 18 pounds. I think what you may want to try instead of agressively losing weight is toning.

You say you are already exercising, which is good, keep on a light aerobic exercise that will tone your legs and butt like the eliptical or a stairs machine, also try crunches to firm your stomach and light weights to tone your arms.

Also, remember that exercise is only HALF the battle, the other half is eating well. There is no magic shake or atkins recipe that will make you lose weight, instead you should cut out all sugar and fat from your diet and eat more vegetables!

At 13 you shouldn't be dieting and 119 is not overweight anyway.
If you would like to maintain your weight though, just cut out anything "White"...... Flour, Pasta, Rice, Sugar......Most can be replaced with wheat products. Just eat healthy and get exercise, your body is going through alot of changes now and for the next couple of years. Don't do anything too extreme because it will effect your metabolism forever.

You have the perfect weight for your height! You really don't need to lose much weight at all.
But,if you still want to lose it,STAY HEALTHY.I suggest you go walking in th morning and go completely organic (food).Find a fun activity that you enjoy.I like listening to my Mp3 player while rollerblading.Eat a big breakfast everymorning.
And one more thing-
DONT starve yourself. All that does is make you look very unhealthy.

Why? stop stressing if you exercising and watching what you eat, you're already doing it. But if you insist, check your calorie intake against your calorie out put, out must be greater than in, so you can eat what you're already eating an add 1/2 hour or 3/4 hour more to your routine.

A safe sure way to shed excess pounds, and safely is to cut down your sugar intake. Like pop, candy, etc. Don't add sugar to your drinks or food. Things taste bland but it works and you will only lose what your body doesn't need.

18 pounds sounds a little extreme. The average body weight for someone who is 5'3" is ~115lbs. I would lower my goal a little. Maybe shoot for 5 lbs. Just cut out highly fattening and caloric things (ie- mayo, candy, etc.) and you'll loose the weight.

You don't really need to lose that much weight, hon. Your frame is just about perfect, and you're going to be growing more anyway.

Plus, exercising isn't going to give you immediate results, that's why you aren't satisfied with it. NOTHING is going to give you immediate results.

My best advice would be to be happy with yourself how you are. You're much too young to be worrying about this.

Without gaining it back plus 10lbs? No way. Like the people above me said, you're thin enough. Be unique don't try to be Barbie like all of these other girls do.
