...and become priests or nuns or their equivalent, are they chickening out ot the last moment or something.
They seem to be so committed to their religion that they want to prevent gays from forming committed relationships of their own, of course anti-gayness requires little sacrifice on the part of str8 Christians that's easy, but same Christians won't give themselves to God and the priesthood etc as once they would have...are they really phoney's merely posing as devout Christians? What's going on?

Magic keys, perhaps it's because I am from a christian background that I feel more comfortable commenting on it, and hey! I'm not suggesting you become anything unseemly am I? that would be trolling and flaming.

truthinus1, I don't think Christians or Catholics know what they are doing any more, they are all things according to all the Christians & Catholics here on YA , they are loving but hateful, they don't condemn but they do condemn.
Actually my friend Diana had a male dog that appeared to be homosexual and other dogs would mount it, he was supposed to be a stud Pekingese but would do nothing with females presented to him and sought out other male dogs. I think homosexuality is quite common in all animals but let's not take our discussion to the lowest common denominator here. Gay humans often love each other and we can't know what animals feel.

>>>When Christians become so committed to their religion as many do why do they not take the next step?
...and become priests or nuns or their equivalent, are they chickening out ot the last moment or something. <<<
There are plenty of ways, besides being a priest or nun, for people to live their Christian faith.
In fact, it is the laity -- more than the priests or nuns, in many ways -- who bring Christ into the schools, the workplaces, the homes of society.
I'm a layperson employed full time by the Catholic Church, and so trust me when I say that while the priests and nuns are the most visible ministers in the Church, it's really the laity who make the Church tick.
We are the ones who plan, organize, raise funds, and so on. We are also often the ones who run the Church's schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, nursing homes, crisis pregnancy centers, and (on an administrative level) even parishes.

I am a Catholic and I never heard of anything that the Roman Catholic faith is against gays. Catholics are always taught that all men are equal and that everyone has the same right as given by God.
If there are those who despise you it is not because they are Christians but because they don't understand what you are. I believe that gays are not an abomination and I think you agree with that.
In fact gays nowadays are far more productive than those who would shamelessly call themselve as machos but do not even know how to work or earn a living. But let us be honest with ourselves and stop the denial, it is not being gay that is the problem but what gays, though not all, are doing that makes it look bad.
I am a scientific person and I have deducted something from my own little way of analyzing things. I hope you will open up your mind and tell me if what I am trying to say is wrong.
Okay, here it is, Do you believe that to be gay is not genetic and is not inborn? Do you believe that in the depth of the human psyche, gays become what they are and is so because of mostly environmental factors that has eventually molded such belief? It is seen only in the higher forms of animals as in man. I hope you would not take this as offensive but please allow me to ask you if have you seen any gay dogs or gay cats or a gay crocodiles or a gay rabbits? I don't think so.
Please do not believe what I am saying here. I honestly just wish you would be fair enough to give it a thought. I am a male friend and I wish you have a nice day.

Let's look in comparison to the Bible and Catholic doctrine and see how it matches up...
Bible says that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the LIfe. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
Catholics have Mother Mary, who to pray to - which is not taught in the Bible. Contradiction? Yes.
Catholics have been to shown "specialized" saints to pray for sepecific things. St. Jude? Pray a certain prayer eight times for eight days, on the ninth day it will be answered. Contradiction to John 14:6? Yes.
There is others but I do not have the time to get into...since I was raised and studied Catholicism.
Romans 1:24-28
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient...
God comdems homosexuality! Why should He want it in His church?
Nowhere in the Bible does it require everyone to become priests and nuns, beng celibate.
Also, I understand why this may be brought up but to say b/c I am not a priest does not prevent me from being devoted to God.
Read the Old Testament, Elijah, David, Elisha, Amos, Job, et al., all devoted to God but NOT priests.
Whether anyone understands this concept or not, God's commands supercedes ANY law that man may bring into existence. Don't believe in gravity? It's still there. God's commands still stands.

As an Atheist, I'm now not watching to be labelled any kind of spirituality. Your description of Hinduism sounds very similar to Buddhism, that is what my mum and dad are. I choose those teachings over different trendy equipped religions however I do not name myself a Buddhist when you consider that I rather have no idea adequate approximately it. I would possibly study Buddhism and Hinduism at some point, now not when you consider that I'm curious about discovering a philosophy to be a aspect of, only for the sake of skills. My reply is not any, for the equal rationale why I do not think in any faith: I are not looking for faith to reside a righteous existence.

The key in what you said is "religion." For instance, I can have a boyfriend. I can know his name, know what he likes, give him things on Valentines Day, make him food....etc. But, when does it become a RELATIONSHIP where I love him and are willing to go the next step and am willing to give my life for him? You see, that is the problem with many Christians...they have their religion, but they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When they have that, they will be willing to go the next step, however, the next step does not always have to be a missionary, priest, or nun. The next step could be dedicating their lives to Christ and loving others as Christ loved. However, on the subject of homosexuality, Christ said he loved the people, but not the sin. The Bible is pretty clear about it's standings on homosexuality-Sodom and Gomorrha.

Who says becoming a priest or a nun is the next step. I think the next step in becoming a christian is doing exactly what we are doing. Telling others about our faith. I'm not Catholic but I have given myself completely to God.

Organized religions are man made, and people who become priests/preachers are just too lazy to work for a living. Real Christians know that the best way to serve God is to walk a spiritual path of love and truth, nothing else is required.
This I believe; http://homelessheart.com/testimony.htm

Let's not stop at Christians.
Why doesn't everyone who joins the military want to become a general?
Why doesn't every nurse want to become a doctor?
Why doesn't every politician want to become president?
Why doesn't every teacher want to become a principal?
Do you think about the questions you ask before you ask them, or do you just like to troll and anger Christians?
Truth In Us,

If people are born gay, then is there any examples of this in nature with animals? The answers are staggering, and very insightful.

GREETINGS!...People want to LOOK good,FEEL good, and maybe even DO good--for a while...But you see,GOD is not playing games...We are here for a fantastic purpose! GOD is inviting all of us,each in His due time,to become Royal Members of His Family!!! This takes intense training! GOD is building in Mankind CHARACTER--mercy,love,patience,kindness,joy,and more, but NOT if we are intent on playing around! GOD is serious about our eternal future! Either we build character,or GOD will have no choice but to mercifully prevent us from harming others through eternity! He already went throught that with Lucifer! WE are to conquer sin and do what Lucifer/Satan refused to do! And that is beautify the Earth along with the Universe! GOD has to know He can TRUST US never to rebel against His loving Rule! So,again, playing around with GOD is a useless and dangerous thing. You either are going to love and respectfully obey Him--or you are serving the devil through your selfish lusts!...There is no 3rd option! Eternal Life is at stake!....
