i would recommend you switch medications that has a high risk of diabeties.

A rare, but serious, side effect that has been reported with this kind of medicine, including SEROQUEL, is known as NMS or neuroleptic malignant syndrome. NMS is characterized by muscle rigidity and fever. Another serious side effect that has been reported is tardive dyskinesia (uncontrollable movements).

There have been reports of elevated blood sugar and diabetes associated with the use of SEROQUEL and other drugs in its class. If you have diabetes or possible risk factors like obesity, or if diabetes runs in your family, you should talk to your doctor about checking your blood sugar before starting SEROQUEL and throughout treatment. If you develop symptoms of elevated blood sugar or diabetes, including excessive thirst, increased urination, overeating, or weakness, contact your doctor. Complications from elevated blood sugar or diabetes can be serious and even life-threatening.

The most commonly observed side effects associated with the use of SEROQUEL in clinical studies were drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, constipation, weakness, abdominal pain, sudden drop in blood pressure when standing, sore throat, abnormal liver tests, upset stomach, and weight gain.

Look up the drug on www.mayoclinic.com that may be very helpfull. One thing to keep in mind is that with some prescription meds, you can not just suddenly stop taking it because they may cause bad effects if you do. Maybe this is a drug that you may have to wean your child off. Call your pharmacy or doctor to find out for sure. Good Luck!

Seroquel?????? Did you question this when it was prescribed? They put me on that for awhile and it totally zonked me out. I'd take it and within a half hour I would literally be passed out. Call his doctor and start asking what they feel this drug is going to accomplish for your son and what other alternatives there are for him.
I took myself off of this stuff and I never suffered any stomach pains, or any side effects that I can remember. Please, call his doctor.

The nature of the drug is to alter teh bvrains chemistry but the problem is the large list of side effects. He is currently going through a withdrawal situation he needs to be weened off the drugs or else he will grow sicker and could die from dehydration. if his symptoms continue you must get him to the hospital inorder to get him on iv fluids and stabalize the neural output.

They gave it to me for Bipolar disorder. I was on a very low dose and when I came off of it I had the spiders crawling all over me, I threw up, and I couldn't sleep for about a week. I think it's good you took him off of it. Try to find something else to give him if he HAS to be medicated. Ask around for other medications. Aside from being COMPLETELY emotionless, it made me very sick. Coming off of it was horrible and I was on a LOW DOSE. I could only imagine what it's like to come off of it when the dosage is higher. I'm sorry for your son.
