Illegal racing I don't have a problem with, it is irresponsible racing that causes problems. It's that one bad apple that is out of control that causes problems for the rest. Also, I feel that the government, albeit local or otherwise, has a tendency to make anything they can't control or tax, illegal.

Some of the "street" races I've been to have been well organized and policed by the attendees. I've seen fewer altercations and/or accidents at these events than I have at the track. However, I don't approve with some of the gambling and substance abuse that goes on.

So, it isn't a big problem where I live. There are tracks within driving distance and most of the true gear heads choose to run their sleds there. The desire to compete is part of the human experience and it runs deep in some people's veins. Unfortunately, it often overrides their ability to make responsible decisions.

If you feel it is a problem where you live and feel you or you family is in danger or disturbed by the noise/crowds/etc... I'm not sure what actions you should take. Other than to notify authorities or form a neighborhood watch that can act as a group to "drive" away the streeters. Be aware that taking action can put you in harms way, so always act in cooperation with your local law enforcement.

You could always move, that's an option.

Don't know if this was the response you were after, but that's that.

It isn't a problem that I hear about. I imagine it goes on somewhere around here though. There is a drag strip though that they have an amatuer night or something of the sort. Maybe they go there. As far as what I think of illegal street racing - IT IS ILLEGAL and people can get hurt. Two brothers were racing a couple of years back. One lost control and ran head on into our friend's dumptruck.

The Hispanic gangs were a big, big problem, actually killing themselves every weekend. Then the Dallas PD came in with their gang unit and worked the nights they knew of the most street racing occurrances. The kids were arrested and cars confiscated. Took care of the problem as the gang members who wanted to keep their much coveted cars got the simple message. You street race, you lose alot, no exceptions!

It is a problem no matter where you live. It's stupid and senseless. There were 2 cousins street racing where I live last weekend and one ended up dead and killing a couple celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary. The worst part of it is, that couple's nine year old daughter is now left to grow up the rest of her life without her mother and her father because of those 2 fools. That's my opinion on that situation.

I think there are a lot of race tracks where people could race legally.
The street I live on is way too small for racing. The problem here is kids on scooters.

It's only a matter of time before the punks around here get into it.
I hope they all die in fiery crashes.
I'll go to their funerals and spit on their greiving mothers and tell them how it's all their fault their kid was out illegally racing because she didn't pay enough attention to them.

Not a problem where I live. It's okay, there are some places that have tracks to go and race.

I think it is a stupid waste of time and money for those people. If they all like it so much, they can find a place that they can arrange to street race in a safer way that doesn't impede traffic.
