My hair is extremely thin and I need a product or home remedy that REALLY WORKS and inexpensive. I want to color it but it won't look good being as thin as it is. It's short so curls will not look good either. HELP ME PLEASE!!!

i am your salvation. i am a black/white female and my hair is a thick as a horse tail. and shinny and new the only thing i use is Organic root stimulator. It is an Olive oil sheen spray it comes in a green canm.and you can buy it at any drug store. it cost about $3 to $6.00 depending where you buy it. it will give your hair the most beautiful shine and it really grows. I have hair to my butt. and get it trimed often. this helps my hair grow about 8 inches a year...no kidding. i swear by it. if you need anymore help please feel free to e-mail me kengisung@yahoo.com

Hi Kolisha, I am a sister with thin hair too. As a matter of fact, all the women in my family have thin hair. My 3 sisters keep weaves in their hair and my mom has an afro. I used to wear my hair permed and short (like Judge Mablean Ephraim on Divorce Court), but the maintainence was too expensive and time consuming. I then cut it real short and put a texturizer (S-Curl) on it-this I loved because it was easy to keep up and all I had to do was go to the barber shop and then texturize it myself. Though it was short, my hair looked thicker because it was not straight. Color will only make your hair appear thinner and may make it more fragile. You could try a cellophane, its a great conditioner and its only temporary color. There are a lot of products that claim to make "our" hair grow longer and thicker, but they are expensive and I don't know anyone who has tried them. The best advice that I can give you is to embrace your thin hair. There is not much you can do about it. For the last 3 years, I have been growning dreads. Because my hair is so thin, I did not think it would grow or look full. Let me tell you--my hair has never been so healthy! Its grown past my shoulders and it is fuller and longer than it has ever been. Keeping your hair in its natural state is the best thing that you can do for your hair. If you want you can contact me at deeztitz@yahoo.com. I hear the desperation in your question and you remind me of myself about 4 years ago when I was fed up with my thin hair too. Also, I use a volumizing shampoo too. It makes your hair appear thicker. Either Neutrogena Volumizing shampoo or Pantene Volumizing shampoo is what I use on my hair once a week. No conditioner because it makes your hair too soft and fragile which can make it break off. Good Luck, Sister....

Neutrogena's Triple Moisture products are really good.
Also, try the oil treatments from Neutrogena, they're really good, I've tried them.
You can also try Vive L'Oreal shampoo & conditioner, they're really good.
