sweetie, i am soooo sorry! i have seen this happen to me when a kitten wandered in our dogs lot, i never felt so helpless in my life, and i did not like our dogs for a long time after that, there is nothing that you can do, except tell your sister to keep the dog up and away from you or little children, pit bulls are very bad to want to kill both babys and other pets. again , i am sorry. GOD BLESS.

Sorry, but as much as I want to say different. This was you both, you and your sister not being responsible for the animals they have.
You should not have had a kitten or any animal anywhere around the dog, until it learned the cat was part of the family and that you knew it would not hurt it.
The fact is that a Pit bull already has a bad name for the fact that it has been bred to attack and kill.
That is not the dogs fault, that is the people who continue to have them and breed them that way and then put them out in the ]public' population homes.

Your sister was at fault for not realizing you would let the kitten near it and now the dog has done something to cause a problem.
You are both neglectful in your jobs as owners of a pet.
You will never be able to have another animal in the home with that dog.
so, live with that and wait till get your own house.
Your sister needs to get a muzzle for the dog or their can be much more problem not only a ktten you will be dealing with later.

Nothing .. the dog was just being a dog .. I know it is sad and I am sorry but one should never fault a creature for simply being what it is. Now whoever brought a pitbull into the area where the kitten was should have their tail kicked.

You really shouldnt do anything to the dog - Didnt you ever learn the saying "Two Wrongs dont make a right" And not only that if you seriously are planning on taking some action you should talk to your sister - She is the one who owned the dog - therefore she trained the dog - There is no such thing as a bad dog - But there is such thing as an idiot owner who didnt properly train the dog. And I dont believe the fact it is a pitt bull had anything to do with it - It must have been taught to be violent - Did it happen to have a spike collar as well?

At this point the dog won't have a clue why he's being punished. You should make sure your sister understands that this dog thinks other small animals are prey and don't bring anymore of them into the house. I know it won't bring your kitten back, but the dog was doing something that is instinct and not trying to upset you personally. Try not to hate him for that.

nothing, just in future make sure you don't let your kitten go near the dog.
The dog was probably trying to play with the kitten. But dogs can be quite aggressive when they are playing, making it seem like an attack.

it happens. i know becuase when i was little a pitbull killed my kitten. the dog was taken away to the pound. i tried to get my cat away from the dog but the cat bit me because it was trying to get away from the dog. i still have scars from it. i was really tramatized and didn't sleep for days. my family was crushed and we didn't get a cat for a long time. A LONG TIME. i know it really sucks. if i were you i would not get another cat. it's not fair to the kitties to have to live with a vicious dog or get killed. most dogs will attack cats especially pitbulls especially if they were not raised with kittens. i'm so sorry to hear about your kitten.

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitten. I have 2 kittens myself who are 11 months old. I would get another Kitten and not let your sister's dog anywhere near your cat. Good luck.

If the dog isn't fixed, do so right away. Unaltered animals tend to be more aggressive. Pitbulls definitely don't need to be breeding anyway, they are the number one dog to be euthanized in shelters. If you get another kitten, be sure to keep it far away from the dog.

You shouldn't do anything to the dog. You need to tell your sister that having a pet means having responsibility. She failed to live up to that responsibility. If you really want to do something to the dog, train it yourself since your sister doesn't appear interested. There is no point in punishing the dog now because it will have no idea why it's being punished.
