he may have had a bad experience before, or he may not be ready for that level of commitment.
think about it. he has to give up his place. It's a bummer if he has many months left on his lease. store his stuff, turn off the utilities, change addresses on everything. Hell, it's like getting married.
don't worry about him, he's ok. I'd worry more about your posessiveness.
