Imo it depends upon the people involved in the relationship. I always preferred my children call me dad and they do to this day even though they are in their 30's. My youngest son takes to calling me "pop" but I don't mind as he is grown and he means no disrespect.
My generation always thought it was disrespectful to use first names in those types of relationships, but times do change. So my answer is it is up to the persons in the relationship and their understanding.

Depends on the situation and it's a matter of habit. I call my mum and dad "mum" and "dad", but that doesn't mean it's disrespectful to call them otherwise. It's just this is how I was brought up. I have a friend who calls her parents by their first names and that's okay for them...

I really think that it is up to the person that you are refering to. (Mom, Dad, Uncle, Auntie, Mother-in-Law)
Some dont mind being called by there name, for example my mother-in-law doesnt mind that I call her by her name. But my grandma really wants me to still call her grammy.. and I dont mind it at all. I do call my uncles and anties by that name though...But it really depends on the person.
My friends mother hated it when we called her mom. We have to call her by her name! On the other hand my bestfriends mother wants us all to call her mom.
Ask them... "how would you like me to address you?"
Just a suggestion

immediate family only has immediate family to call them mom, dad, aunt so and so, uncle so and so; it is a matter of respect and a privilege to be able to have those titles so i would definately use them. as for mom and dad in-laws and step moms and dads, i feel that is more on a comfort level, on both ends.

Why not? No harm done, provided, that person accepts that without comment and objection. Whatever it may be, be careful with the elders and older people.

I feel all must be given due respect... they deserve it, maybe they are the biggest jerks in the world, their experiences in this world atleast deserve some respect. Yes.

Depends on where you are and your culture you know. In the US, yeah, you can call them by their names.

If it's what feels comfortable, and it is respectful, go ahead. Usually not for direct family though.
