The key word is duty. It is our duty as a citizen of this country to participate in this from time to time. We all have rights, but in order to fully enjoy them we all have to take our duties just as seriously as our rights. It is no fun going to jury duty, but thank God we have a system that has juries, think of what could happen if we did not. Bring some good books with you, bring pen and paper to catch up on your letter writing, bring your PSP, etc., and just do your duty. If the date conflicts with when you may be called, let them know any maybe it could be postponed to a better time.

Wear a shirt that says 'Jury nullification is every citizen's right!'

I am certain you will not get on a panel. They may even ask you to leave early. I've never tried this, but I have always joked that this seemed to me the most effective way to get out of jury duty.

well if you insist on knowing how to get out of jury duty, it is probably for the best that you follow these instructions to the letter.! 1)tell them you are the son of Charles Manson.2)tell them you don't believe in the American jury system.3)if all else fails tell them you are a convicted felon on the run, and you would rather not get involved in the courts business.

My lawyer asked me the same question. He could not get out of jury duty.

Why?
Are you an American?
Do you enjoy the freedoms this country offers?
Would you want responsible people to sit in on your jury if you were on trial?
Stop whining about it and go do it.
Its your civic duty and its not going to kill you.
Otherwise, go commit a felony...that'll keep you off jury duty for the rest of y our life.

Are you in school? because if you are you can have your Dean or who ever is head of your school to write a letter stating why you can't go to jury duty and the will postpone your date to another date that is convient to you.

You can't. You can postpone your duty date once for a good reason in most cases. but then you have to show up on the new date.

Anyone who watches TV can tell you that people who have made up their minds as to guilt or innocence will not be allowed to serve.

Say that your dad knows one of the attorneys and that it will affect your decision. This is also illegal.
