I've already lost 6 pounds from not being able to eat a lot. I heard it is still an issue to eat after it is out....will I lose weight? I'm not that overweight, just about 20 pounds, but I carry it well.

You're not Overweight...but just 20 lbs..and you carry it well? Ok sweetie kid yourself if you want..but that is overweight...and another thing...having ur gall bladder out will not help u lose weight...did you think your gall bladder weights 20 lbs too?? You are gaining weight cause you eat too much...its always simpler and easier to blame something else when the real answer is right in front of ur nose......Moderate your eating habits

The Gallbladder stores bile, and has no digestive function. You won't lose any more weight than the weight of your gallbladder. If it's out-of-control huge, yeah, you'll lose weight. Don't go out and buy new jeans yet.

Weight loss comes from your will to burn more calories than you take in every day.

Once I found out that my pain was a gallbladder attack, I lost a nice amount of weight by cutting out nearly all fats and proteins (I sure was tired though) to try to stop the attacks.
Unfortunately, because it was my 2nd abdominal surgery in 2 months (I had a baby by c-section too), I was restricted from doing much of anything for almost 6 weeks after the surgery so everything came back on and then some!

My mom had the surgery. She did lose some weight about 10-15 lbs afterwards. The trick is keeping it off afterwards. I know it was easier because her stomache can't handle the junk food and fast food.

Just make sure you eat good afterwards and you should be able to keep it off.

It will NOT make you lose weight. Most people get gall bladder problems from yo-yo dieting. Watch your fat intake as it will irritate your gall bladder and add to your weight.
