I'm 35 years old, married, & raising 2 teenage step children now 15 & 17 since they were 2 & 4, and our two biological children age 2 and 7. Our 17 yo son started pushing me & grabbing me & open hand hitting me, BUT ONLY when dad is working away on business. I was so scared one night I called the police and they did not believe me...they never heard of "young parents being abused. [YOU] need professional help "...& they left! Dad had a hard time believing his son was capable of such violence perpetrated against a woman, his wife and his son's only source of motherly love, until his best friend saw it with his own eyes. I am safe again, but need to know where are the laws that protect me and my 3 younger children. Are there any laws that protect parents from being abused by their chidlren...despite our ages? PLEASE, can someone link me to any laws that can protect me? In the USA, and CT inparticular. Thank you for listneing! I appreciate ANY response!

Any type of physical abuse is wrong and is against the law - no matter what your local law enforcement officers seem to be telling you, because this is a form of domestic violence. Here are some web sites that may help you:

http://www.suite101.com/lesson.cfm/16655/157/4
this one sort of explains the entire process of why children abuse parents - interesting reading and may help you figure some things out.

Your official state web site also has links to help you - try this one:

http://www.211infoline.org/
and look for the "2-1-1 Info Hotline" link that will put you in touch with agencies that specialize in situations such as yours, that can offer you support and advise.

Children learn from their parents . . . so there is a chance that your step-son learned this behavior from his father. Also, please remember that your younger children are also watching and learning.

Take the steps you need to protect yourself and your family. Good luck.

First you call the police and tell them you have just been assulted and need a police officer ASAP.

Don't give them a life history over the phone, often people talk police out of comming by trying to tell them too much over the phone to a dispatcher who is not trained as a police officer.

There are just laws, don't matter if he is your son, or if he is a man walking down the street, the same laws apply.

Since he is a member living in the home, it may even fall under domestic violence depending on how your state law is written.

Next if the dispatcher or police officer will not come out, call for thier supervisor, and talk to them, if they don't come out, go down to the department and file a written grievence against the department.

Ie, at 17 , send him to a boot camp, check with Juv services, if you can get him declared deliquent, they should be able to send him.

You need to speak with someone at adult protective services at your local social services department.Seriously you need to take your other 3 children and get away from him if possible or you can file charges at your local magistrate office for assault and battery. If he is verbally abusive also, purchase a voice sensitive tape recorder and record his abuse on tape and play it to your husband.Children have killed their parents. You must take action.Your husband is a foolish man.
