First off you tell the other mom that she needs to mind her own business and stick to parenting her own kid and not yours. Then you need to reprimand your child immediately for his actions. My parents would have immediately taken me to a bathroom or out of the building and spanked me for taking a toy. Being a parent means that you have to invoke consequences for when your child misbehaves. If he throws a tantrum you just drag him out to the car and spank his butt and make it clear that his behavior is unacceptable. Every time that you don't make it clear what is wrong the child assumes that their behavior is then ok.

Be more firm with your child! Even if he throws a tantrum, you dont him to grow up being one of those that will rebel at you when he gets the chance, you may love him to death, but you have to show him the way. He's only 3, so i wouldn't worry about it, children will throw tantrums....even when they're 20. You'll learn from experience what to do the next time....try more things like warning him that he wont get any ice cream later or any t.v if he doesnt stop.

Unsure of your problem/question. If in doubt, perhaps some assistance with parenting skills...If I'm understanding 'lost control' with your son's behavior.
Or the inability to understand the ignorance of the woman...???
In either case, start by taking a deep breath, to bring some control to yourself. Then continue to work on the world...which I know, seems helpless at times....More deep breaths.
Try calm quiet moments of meditation, when able.

I think I understand your question....

Its good that you didnt fall to her level, but you should have stood your ground at least. Your actions gave her power. Next time, suggest to someone working there that you were threatened. If its a government building, they'll take care of it!

Basically I don't quite understand what you r trying to say. If the toy is not his give it back.

I think walking away was the best thing you could do (if I understand you correctly?), you need a firmer grip on your child......
