You need to contact your doctor and tell them the problem. You're having an allergic reaction. Take some benedryl caps (2) and call your doctor NOW. They can change the anti-biotic for you. Good luck.

About 3 to 5 days. If it is really bad, the doc should give you a shot of epinepherin to speed along the healing. Go buy Benedryl Clear lotion or Calamine Lotion. It will help with the healing and itching. You can also take Benedryl internally, but it will make you sleepy. Don't ever take the antibiotic again. It could get serious enough to constrict breathing again. You are obviously allergic!

You are probably allergic to the antibiotic. Talk to the doctor that gave it to you and ask for a lighter dose or a different medication. The hives will probably go away after a few days.

okay so I've had this problem. I was really allergic to the medication I was prescribed. I had to go back to the doctor to get some medication to counteract the allergic reaction then I had to get another prescription to do what the first one was supposed to do. Over all I say talk to your doctor. If it's not a big deal then he'll just tell you to take a antihistamine. if you are seriously allergic to the medication then you might need something else to flush it from your system.

I had that. They gave me a shot of cortisone to stop the hives. But I had an abrupt blood pressure drop and almost passed out, so that can have it's own downsides.
It's worth asking for cortisone.

Well, stop the antibiotic and they'll go away in a few days, once your body has processed what was in your system.
