Catholics were not outcast when Timothy McVeigh bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, and there are other examples of radical Christians. Don't you think-to some extent-that it is unfair to harrass Muslims on a whole?

To the most racist 'whynotaskdon' for your information-I am a Christian and always have been. I have two Christian Ministers in my family-one is Baptist and one is a Catholic priest. I myself am Catholic. I have never read the Koran and I do not even know what an immman is so I don't know how he or she could beat me as I do not have one. LMAO at your complete and utter stupidity and racism!!! =))

Yes it is unfair.
But it will take muslims to clean up Islam.
Some christian denominations are at work trying to clean up their own back yard. Its most unfortunate that the catholic church is not one of them.

I am a christian too. So, how many Timothy McVieghs are there really? I know that there are behaved muslims but does that justify what is happening nowadays? I have a muslim brother in law and we get along fine but that still doesn't convince me that most are good.
Have you heard of the abuses that happened in the Middle East done to Asian workers there especially the domestic helpers? Read about it and come back to Yahoo answers.
I don't think Muslims are being judged. People are just trying to voice some opinions and if some opinions are not nice to hear then it remains an opinion. Opinions will definitely change when people see changes and that is the parameter that should be condidered in order for change to happen, not the judgment that one could make because people create an opinion with what they see or hear and nothing can change that. Have you also heard how Christians are being judged?

Hi,
Your question is valid, it true. Yet, 2 bads don't make one good.
A agree with you, when we are busy with out daily social, work or hobby activities we rarely bring out our religious allegiance.... So, when we do know that someone is from a religious denomination, it is through intimate interactions or when it happens to be more personal...So in that perspective, true, if the person we are interacting and developpong rapport with is Muslim, you can call him, as well as any other people from other denominational background : Good.
The Toronto incident is not religious per say yet at the same time, there is a tremendous issue within the Muslim community and it is denial of facts.
Instead of addressing the issues that are a Reality in their community, there is constantly a cutlure of denial and perspectivism. It is not by saying that Christians are such and such a way that it will make the problem and the issues go away.
And that is one of the major issue that the muslims who avoid to address the Terrorist issues with maturity and clarity, issues and problems that undeniably take root within their ranks and community that causes confusion.
As a Canadian, you are honestly wishing and honestly interact and beleive that Muslims are not encouraging terrorism. And I agree, Yet, you mentioned that you havent read the Koran so you should ask yourself this question? How can you objectively be critical of the situation if you do not understand what causes a definite trend within the muslim communities around the world to allow the emergence of people motivated to act against their fellow citizens ?
Read the Koran on your own. Do not let any one influence your reading, read it with a critical mind. We live in a free country, we must reason and be critical with all aspect of our society. What distinguises our society from many others is that it is True, there has been some abuse and some mistakes in the past, but the West does not deny it.. It is by facing it ackowledging our mistakes or the results of certain actions that allowed the west to also ban Slavery to take just one exemple...
So as you read the Koran, be very attentive at the life of the prophet and the word JIHAD. Be attentive as to the way it defines how to treat women, be attentive to the way it defines how muslims should behave in contacts with people of other denominations...
So you are right, there are many many muslims who are very good neighbors and citizens, but to say that the Koran and Islam is peaceful is not right and a blantant denial.
So the question is, what is it, within the teaching of the Koran and Islamic scriptures that motivates some individuals of the Muslim community to harbor such behaviors, more than other communities ?
This question is finally being addressed with this situation with the intention of terrorist attack in Toronto. This question is actually finally being proposed by Muslims themselves and not people from outside the community. This Toronto incident is finally allowing the Muslims to look at themselves and pin point what it is that need to be addressed in order to identify what causes such hatred and willingness to harbor such actions against other (Muslims as well as non-muslims) Canadians.
That was my take on it, hope it helped.

It is unfair, but I think it's because there aren't groups of Catholics or extremist Christians (except maybe inside the government) who are like McVeigh in their attitudes. Al Qaida and the other Muslim terrorist groups are larger and stronger. They still have the potential to cause harm and the intent to do so. Any group with such a cause would probably looked at that way.
I don't dislike all Muslims, but I do believe that there are many who are secretly supporting the terrorists, and I think it's wrong.

I don't think that there is really any knowledge of Muslim beleifs or Islamic culture in the Western world, so we don't really hear about the good Muslims. For example, until I was 11 I thought Muslim and Islam were different religions.
So the reason in my mind is that there is no exposure to other types of Muslims, other than the radicals. If you only heard about Catholic priest molesting children, the Inqusition etc. you would think that all Christians were bloodthirsty barbarians. I am sure that some people do.

I don't judge them, only the negative ones. At the same time some of the negative ones have their reasons behind what they do. You never no how the have become who they are. Some times things are not always what they seem. I know that its no telling what the people of the u.s. do not know. I hate to judge anything. I do realize and have always realized that christians so thing severyday and the media never says "A Christian man robbed the bank today", but if it is a muslim they will say "A muslim man robbed the bank today". This is hell that we live in and people don't reallize it. Learn what you can and get as spiritual as you can so you can get the hell out of hear and not come back. Earth is the hardest planet and lesson.

I agree with you that there are many cases of radical Christians doing terrible things too and that a few radical Muslims seem to have painted all Muslims as terrorist, but the reason why everyone seem not ascribe the act of one Christian to be the norm of all Christian and do the opposite for Muslims is because when such things happen, you see Christians all over the world speaking against it to the extent of disagreeing with another, but in the case of Muslims, they seem to endorse those who commit this terrible acts.
They don't speak against it and i guess people feel not speaking against means supporting it.

People make generalizations about others based on their experiences with them. For many people, the only experience they've had with Muslims is through the media. They conclude that all Muslims are terrorists or fundamentalists. This is why I think it is important to live in diverse communities or to find opportunities to learn about different types of peoples.

Should you blame nuclear warheads for nuclear battle? Not they all blew up. As lengthy as islam was once the proposal of someones movements it must be viewed. Of path there are lots of different elements even though. Its no longer fairly the identical as another booklet or kind of enjoyment for the reason that folks take faith extra critically so it has a much better weight on folks. Religion must be treated responsibly.

muslims are passionate to the core about their beliefs.
it is the way of islam.
in this site we have seen many people who do not accept any other god other than jesus and refer them as false gods or demons.
even without any proper religious schooling christians have so much of fanatism.so the passionate and the muslim's rage when they are hurt can be understood by rational people.
i am a hindu living in (south)india.
except for a few who think that injustice is meted out to them most of them are good in their heart

whynotaskdon, before judging others, whynotlook at your own bible? Deut. 4:24, 13:6, Ps.5:5-6, 7:11. Looks a lot like what you said about Muslims. I don't intend to offend, I just want to see more tolerence.
