not exist

I suppose that depends on how one defines "parents."

The myth of the nuclear family is dispelled. Only very rarely now do we have a household in which one of the adults is the primary care-giver and the other the so called "bread-winner."

It takes more than being able to make a baby for one to earn the respect entitled with the honorable word "parent." More and more the adults in the household have to work and this trend is escalating.

The family unit is disintegrating and this is what Hillary Clinton meant when she said it takes a village to raise a child -- not because children are the responsibility of everyone else in a "village" but because the frenetic pace of our culture has made it so that even a parent whom wants to be a good parent can not do it all alone.

In many ways, your parents already do not exist. The duties of teaching and the installation of life-skills are foisted off on your teachers, baby-sitters and the television. They are not enough.

If your parents are trying even a little bit then catch them being good at it and thank them for trying to be real. Just like you they also need to know they are loved and needed.

All my best to you!

Read the book "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley.

It was written in the 30's and is a sci-fi glimpse into what Huxley thought the future would hold. All people are created artificially. There are no such things as "parents" in the novel - in fact, students are taught to be disgusted by the thought of family units and scoff at meaningful, interpersonal relationships. Promiscuity is encouraged and monogamy is a no-no, as this could lead to true intimacy...which could lead to love...which could lead to wanting to consummate that love to produce a pregnancy - oh no!!

Good book - it's amazing at how insightful Huxley was so long ago!

Well, I would never have been born so I guess you can say I owe them my very existence. They are getting up there in age and when I think of the fact that they may not be here some day it devastates me. I can't imagine not having them around any more.

If parents never existed we wouldn't know what to do because WE DIDN'T EXIST EITHER.

If your parents never existed then you do not exist and if you do not exist, then you can't do anything

well, it would be too tough to survive. If there were no parents, where would the money for education come from? How would you end up making a living later on? You would have to do physical work or be a slave (for multiple purposes). Without parents, you wouldn't have the fun stuff you have now so appreciate them, even if they are as strict as my parents lol.

Right now you are at an age where you can't appreciate your parents. And while they are still alive, you will not know how much they really do mean and how much they love you. But when you get older and they die, you will then understand. Both my dad and my mom are dead, and I miss them more than you could ever know. I would so much love to have them back again. Once they are gone, you can NEVER get them back. Be thankful for having them while they are here.

You must be assuming that aliens stole our DNA and are creating us in petri dishes because otherwise we wouldn't exist!

Or if you mean that you're parents weren't around...well let's see, you'd be able to party for awhile but then eventually you would have to get a job to pay the bills and buy food. You'd have to cook your own food, do your own laundry, and clean your own house. You'd have to become (gasp) just like a parent!!!!

Nothing-I wouldn't be able to do anything. I couldn't exist without their existence.
