It's not free but very cheap at ebay - i had it amonth ago for a total price of £4.00

Hey,it is very old operating system by microsoft.And i doubt if it works well with current hardware.
As far as downloading is concerned it is illegal,any way.
Why not try digg,google with search keyowrds like Downlaod win 3.1If you are curious about that OS want to try it without formatting the ghard drive try searching for some person who have Vmware workstation and WIn 3.1.
You can even install windows in your linux box.Try this community.Check VMware forums for person who has this install cd.

I gotta say, you are almost out of luck, you could try a rubbish dump, also look at the names on the computer to see if you can guess what os it runs, if you are in a tip. Maybe, a computer shop could have one or a link to one? The earliest I have seen in ages is a windows 95! That was on a TINY computer.

You can't, Microsoft still holds the copyright and isn't about to distribute any commercial program for free, regardless of its age. Try Ebay to buy it second hand (legally in a grey zone, but I don't think anyone cares).

Win3.1 is so ancient (in computer language) that your best hope would be to check ebay or ask at some local computer shops. They may be willing to give it to you for free just to get rid of it.
