It's about a horse and a guy. The guy is an orphan, grows up in the orphanage as the book starts, goes to some farm where he is treated well, for some reason goes back to the orphanage, eventually gets adopted by the family he was first with. The family he was first with has/had a lame women who used to ride the horses, the boy cares for them....

The hardcover version has like a black horse, with a field behind it on the cover?

Ring any bells with anyone? I've been wanting to re-read it for months but I can't think of the title! I want to say its like Gerheart or something but I can't find any books like it. Please and Thanks!

Its not black beauty. Black beauty was focused on the horse, this book was focused on the boy and his life.

Its not Black Stallion, though that sounds really interesting. Its not King of the Wind, the boy has dialouge a lot so he's not mute. Its not my friend flicka.

Thanks for all your help and patience with my bad memory!

There are many books about orphans & horses together. The Black Stallion series (in these books the boy does not come from an orphange, he has one parent) & most of the books by Marguerite Henry include orphans & horses. I could not find one that specifies having a handicapped woman in it however.

It sounds closest to the following but the horse in it is not black, and the boy in it is mute:

"King of the Wind" by Marguerite Henry is about a mute Arab boy and a beautiful stallion, who have to overcome all manner of hazards and setbacks and later get to meet the King and Queen of England.

I kind of remember a book when I was a kid called "Peter Lundy and the Medicine Hat Stallion" that was SORT of like that.

My other guess would be "The Black Stallion" or "My Friend Flicka".

Justin Morgan Had a Horse - that's a guess, because I haven't read it.

I believe chick180 on courtney witchburn. That call sounds like it suits your character. or you ought to use Ashley Brooks. Or kate brooks. i think of that is enormously cool that your writing a e book too.
