I've never been in trouble with the law or have been arrested. I was just wondering, because I was thinking of some things I would like to say to a criminal if I got a hold of them and I was the police officer. I also, was reading a story about an officer who did and was wondering if it was allowed.

Some people are real jerks when they are getting arrested, so can you blame them (the popo) for at the very least cussing. It's not like someone who's getting arrested hasn't ever been cussed at. Get real! I don't think the majority of the people who get arrested would be offended by a little cussing. Who are you going to complain to? You might just end up with more charges.

I cannot say it does not happen depending on the situation. But generally I have found they do not start off swearing If you are cooperating with them they are usally very nice.In any case it maybe your word against theirs you would need wittnesses to prove it if you were to go before a judge and he or she did belive you the most you might get is an apology. I do not believe it is against the law for anyone to swear at anytime. It may just be inappropriate at times.

Tell the whole truth- what did you do to incite the police officer to swear at you? The answer to your question is NO, that is considered unbecoming of an law enforcement official.

They have a badge, a gun and a right. Just remember that and you will get along with the police. The place to argue is in the courts. Not on the street.

I don't think they're supposed to. But I guess the situation calls for it sometimes. But if swearing is the worst they did, I would consider myself lucky, since I did something bad enough to get arrested for.

I had a police officer flip me off when I was driving once! He was really close behind me and it was annoying me, so I slowed down a little and when he came up beside me to pass me, he FLIPPED ME OFF! I was soooooo mad. I wish I had gotten his car number or something. Police officers are allowed to do whatever they want. And they do.

If they have to chase you though the woods, or down the street, jump on you and you fight back, yes you will hear some curse words.

It is of course against most departments policy to use profane lanague, so you may report them and they will be talked to by thier supervisor ( who is most likely cussing have to do it)

Of course after you file your complaint against him, you will have to go into the jail ran by his friends and co workers,

No, but they can pretty much do anything, including beating a person to death, without much more than a "this guy died while in police custody" news story.

but have fun doing anything about any violations unless you have indisputable video tape evidence to show for it.

They do and although someone may need to be arrested..I don't feel that it is professional on their part..no matter how out of hand someone may get.
