Yes, I think they need to be paid more. However, if they were paid more, the fast food joints would charge more for the food to make up the difference.

I don't think that $10,712 a year is an income on which you can living. That aside, I don't think that many people actually make minimum wage. In fact about 20 states and many cities actually have raised their minimum wage above the federal level. The feds will do something once W is out of office, it's been one of the longest runs without an increase in history. Go figure, a Republican that doesn't want to increase the minimum wage, what a surprise.

I don't think so. I think that minimum wage is fair. Working at a fast food place is a minimum wage job. No college degree is needed. Yet I do recognize that it is a hard working job. I worked at McDonald's for several yrs while I was in high school. I couldn't believe how rude people were and how they treated us with lack of respect. I am talking about adults! I will not let my daughter work in a fast food restaurant. I think people need to respect everyone who supplies a service to them. I treat restaurant workers with respect and everyone else who I come in contact with. It is often snotty woman who have never had to work a day in their lives, treat employed people like crap. They have never been in the work field, therefore do not know how to treat people who are working with respect.I just want to say to them, that we are not there to be your servants, we are there to provide a service, whatever that may be.

In the greater Miami area they make $6.15. Still not enight. I think anywhere from 9-10 here, but in most places 7 or 8 would be alright

fast food workers work very hard, I'm sure.
however, they are not paid very much because so many people are willing and able to handle that job.
people are well-paid when their service is rare or exceptionally difficult. unfortunately, the service of fast food restaurant workers is neither.

Yes, however, consider the skills required to turn a burger or place orders on a register with pictures of the food on it. Hummmmm.

It isn't like they are performing brain surgery there. They are stuffing food products in bags or placing them on trays. If they want to make more money, that's what manager training and education is all about.

Sadly, they are paid what the job is worth, not what they are worth.... I think the rationale is something like-- pay you just enough to keep you here.

Because they are illegal immigrants. They are lucky to even be getting any wages at all. I don't think they need to be payed any more until they can speak English.

No, that is a job for immigrants or high school kids. If you are expecting that to be your career, then you get minimum wage.
