How much money would it take to live comfortably where you live?
By comfortably I mean having the basics - Food, Shelter and housing cost (heat, hydro, water), transportation, recreational needs (gym, theme parks). Do not include your ski resort trips and other fancy doodahs... just the basics.

I make over 50,000 a year and although I have two kids with special needs who suck me dry. I still don't think that's enough to get by these days.

Miss rude Angie Rae who likes to pass judgement - what government is giving me money? My child is over 6 and does not qualify for Autism services and no one funds ADD. So please tell me where to get this money you speak of on my salary.

40,000 is more like my take home but with cost of living, 40,000 student loans, therapy for one kid and tutoring for the other. Plus they are young so necessities change every season. Contrary to one commentor - I don't get government funding. I know people who are doing childcare on the side and collecting government funding and they qualify for services for their kids that I don't. I am not here about them, I just wanted to know how many feel the same way. I know some parents with kids with Autism who pay 40,000 a year in therapies.

People get by on what they make, whether it's 25k a year or 5 million a year. We adjust our living according to our income. The more we make, the more we spend. So there is no certain amount of money that will make most people live comfortably because their lifestyle changes with the increase of their annual income.

My husband only makes 24,000 a year and we have 4 children. Let me tell ya it is tough. But you make double what We do and we are a household of 6. Don't get me wrong, we do live in a 4 bd 2ba house and have 2 vehicles and sometimes we go out (rarely). But it is pretty sad when you make double what we do and you cant make it. Maybe its where you live. It must be expensive to live there. I live in Montana, It's turning into an expensive state though, very quickly.

I hear ya. Everywhere it is different. I still wonder if anyone is really happy out there with there job and money. Inflation is not helping. I don't know how much I need to live comfortably right now bc my wife and I live for free bc of her job. If it wasnt for that, we would barely be getting by and thats without children. I don't think this question can be answered accurately.

I don't understand how you can say that you dont think you make enought to get by?
If you make over 50k a year, and have special needs kids, your getting money from the governement to help you pay for their needs.
Maybe your just greedy?

Yes, but I consider it a large miracle for one in your shoes. Is there no way to acquire any kind of financial aid from the father of your children?
