Speak the truth.Say what you feel that has struck you the most in the past few years of war. Do you (still) support the cause? If you were George W. Bush, what would you do today regarding the war? I support our boys out there to the very last step. They're courageous and honorable.

Yes, it can be justified. We are trying to get rid of people who feel it is right to blow up civilians who are not the ones making decisions that they might disagree with. These are the same people that blow up college students sitting in cafes in Israel. If these people targeted military only, it would be a bit different, but they don't. I think GWB is doing the right thing by staying the course and trying everything he can to finish the job. I feel bad that we are losing soldiers, but unfortunately it happens.

Whats done is done. We all must face the fact that we are in Iraq. I see people all the time protesting the war, but if we did bring those troops home what did all the lives lost mean if we just give up. We need to stay there until the Iraqi millitary is strong enough to defend its self and the Saddamless government is strong as well. We can just leave the job half done, we can't go invade a country capture there leader and start to form a new government and just leave. I think if I were in Bush's shoes we would stick it out to the end. In my opinion the reason I have an opinion is because of our troops who have been out there fighting for us. So support them no matter who the president is or who we are fighting. This is the USA the BEST country in the world the land of the free and the home of the brave and that my friend is something that no one can or will ever take away from us.

The war can absolutely be justified. One has to break this down simply and objectively. Sadam needed to be taken out over any of the other tyranical leaders in the world because of one reason; He is a militant islamic fashist zealot, meaning, he followed and believed the same mutated, militant strain of Islam that the 9/11 hijackers did. It would have been absolutely inappropriate to ignore him after 9/11. A responsible leader of the free world cannot afford to have a man of such power, money and influence as Sadamn, in the world financing and promoting acts of violence against non-musilms, i.e. Christians, i.e. most Americans.

People also have forgotten the 14 times he defied the U.N.'s International sanctions, stipulations and warnings imposed upon him. These sanctions and warnings were imposed with the consequence of military actions if he did not obey them. He did not comply. Should he have gone on breaking international law with no consequence? All that would accomplish is fueling the problem, the same way an undisciplined child will not change his behavior if he knows all the parent has is empty threats. Compliance on our part would only have made the problem worse.

We must not forget history and what happened the last time we let dangerous people ignore international impositions, WWII and Hitler happened, because nothing was done to stop him before he started.

The notion that this is a war for oil is so ridiculous and sophmoric that I challange anyone to come up with a reason to back up their argument besides the fact that there is oil in the middleast.

The war cannot be justified. We had the right idea to stop the tyanny in Iraq, but we went off in different track. The government start the war base on untrustable source of intelligence. That is not how the government normally works. They always needs good evidence to proof that Iraq has weapon of mass destruction. If Iraq, at that time begins to make nuclear bomb, it will take years to finish. All we need is a few more months to get a more solid evidence and better inspection. We did not wait. We did not let the UN take control of Iraq when the war ended. And now we do not want to leave. The tyanny is gone and Saddam is arrested, what are we staying there for?

I get so upset! The war that was suppose to be about terrorism and 9/11 and is now all about BRINGING DEMOCRACY to Iraq!!?? Can you imagine if he would have pulled the whole "I know we were just attacked on 9/11 but I am going to free the people of Iraq instead" We would have said no way!

I also think about the everyone who has been killed or injured on both sides. I think of the people who have lost mothers, fathers, babies, children, wives, husbands. I think that I have a hard time believing that Jesus would condone all of this.

The terrorist are wrong. But for some reason I feel that we are creating more by trying to bring freedom or peace by a face of a gun.

For the troops, I feel that they are listening to orders G.I. = Government Issued. I wonder if the people who support this war are looking in the newspaper weekly and reading the identies of the beautiful people who have been killed. About people who were living in poverty before joining the military and joined just so they can go to college one day and become what they dreamed they would do one day. Now it is all gone. I read about them... and I pray for their families.

To answer your question, if I were George Bush, I would bring them home and protect our borders. I would find Osama Bin Laden, who is not in Iraq. I would stop having the blood shed of our people so that Iraq could have freedom. We fought for our own freedom in the United States and I feel that if enough Iraqi's want freedom they would fight for it themselves.

My view is, Its a nice Idea. No terriorism sounds fabulous. But so does no hunger, drugs and racisim. My husband has been sent to Afghanistan once and is going to Iraq next year for another year. While Im completly 100% supporting our troops, I feel like they are being sent out there to fight a losing battle. The things that some of these men tell me when they come back would outrage most people, and supporters of the war. I pray for them. No I dont feel it's justified, but it doesnt seem like its ending anytime soon. Some people are scheduled to leave in 2010.

War on terror? It's a war for oil! Where have you been :o)

"And I know what you're gonna say next. 'He sponsors terrorism'. Where's the proof? I thought we were going after bin Laden for that. But wait, Afghanistan ain't got any oil. So we need another monster, who's got something worth taking. And Saddam is so damn convenient. Yeah, he's an evil sonovabitch who deserves to be taken out, but are we the ones who should do it? Are our kids the ones who should die for it? Is he worth another Wall like this?

"And what the hell is terrorism, anyway? It's not a thing; it's not a place; it's not a person. It is a political and military strategy, that's all. Having a 'War On Terrorism' is as ridiculous as having a 'War on Flanking Maneuvers'. You'll end terrorism when there's no longer anything for anybody to get pissed off about."

I support the troops as well. We just had another killed and we buried one Friday. Letting them die for oil is not supporting our troops! It's supporting the rich's access to wealth!

Many things have struck me as a soldier in the US army. First off, I think that giving people freedom is a great thing. I think that everyone in the world should be free. But I also think that bringing freedom to people and shoving it down thier throats might not be the best way to go about it. The biggest problem is that these people we are over there to help, see us as an enemy and want to kill us. Not all of them mind you but many. Thier religion and religious leaders encourage the killing of people different from themselves, ie: christians, blacks, jews, or anything else. They say its a religion of peace but since the advent of islam they have never had peace. So perhaps an agreement between the governments and insurgency to rebuild the country without military involvement or something to that effect but the problem is that the US wants to protect this investment its made and can't do that without a military presence. Which brings me to GWB. He is doing what he should. He has acknowledged that he screwed up a bit in decisions, but there isnt anything he can do now except stay the course like he constantly says. Pulling out now, makes every dead soldier, from every country there a waste. The only ones not wasted are those of the insurgency because with us pulling out of there, they have accomplished thier mission. If we stay there and kill enough bad guys and rebuild the country enough to protect itself, Bush could be remembered historically as a visionary and wonderful leader. Harry Truman was one of the most unpopular presidents in history but he is remembered as a great president because of the historical ramifications of his decisions. The war on terror is like the war on drugs or the war on crime or the war on AIDS, these "wars" are almost perpetual in nature and make headlines with casaulties. So yes it can be justified because we are sacrificing men and women who love thier country and freedom so that millions of others accross the world can sleep better at night knowing someone out there is fighting bad guys who would kill them. Hindsight is 20/20, but my view is that we need to stick it out, at least until a viable compromise is possible.

Anything can be justified. People justified (some still do) the murders of 6 million jews.

I've never supported the 'war on terror'. It is a total failure just like the 'war on drugs'.

This is a war that will end up pushing Bush into a situation like Nixon during the Vietnam War. He says we are there to protect democracy.
Democracy? If you wanted to get rid of Saddam Hussein, just give him a billion bucks and he'll live right next to the White House, if you asked him! The guy just wants money to live out his days. Then, you can arrest him and bring him to trial. Instead, we are wasting billions of taxpayers' money for soldiers to blow up Iraqi civilians. Not right. Not right. Bush is exchanging blood for oil. For his filthy rich oil tycoon friends who helped him get reelected.
I support the soldiers, but I don't support the war they are fighting in. At least they have the guts to go fight there and risk their lives.
