i think you should write your own personal thing, that would mean so much more. it doesn't have to be perfect or professional sounding, i think you should speak of something that digs deep into your gut.

ps i'm sorry for your loss. take care and God bless

Sorry to hear that you lost your sister...I hope you are ok.
My nan died 3 yrs ago and I had to read at her funeral...for days I was searching the web looking for a perfect poem and I didn't find one. Some body sent me a condolence card and the poem on that was perfect. Why not go into a card shop or even write your own-this way you can express your true feelings and you will feel easier knowing that you have them off your chest.
Good Luck for thursday-I hope everything goes well. Keep your chin up-your sister will be proud of you x

I lost both my parents in the last 6 months my father only last month and i can honestly say that nothing is better to express the way you feel about her than your own words, when it comes from the heart ,people will see your loss far more than someone Else's words ,I'm sorry about your loss i know only too well what a devastating effect it can have on you but life goes on and you must remember that your sister is up above and how proud she will be of you for being strong and getting on with your life ,the pain does not go away but it does get easier as the days go by,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that nothing can ease that pain right now and I do wish you peace and comfort.

I looked around on the internet for a while for appropriate poems for you and came up empty handed. I honestly feel that just speaking from your heart is the best. Perhaps looking at the library may help a bit though?

My condolences {{{hug}}}

Poetry is a good method of telling someone how you feel, but was your sister into poetry? If not why don't you write her letter, you don't have to say it out loud but maybe just having it there at the funeral would help and maybe you could throw in a happy poem, one that she enjoyed as a child as well.

I am so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you and all your family at this difficult time. I found these poems on the following sites;

SHE IS GONE

http://www.lighthouse12.freeserve.co.uk/parish/inlovingmemory.htm

And

I AM NOT GONE

http://www.poeticexpressions.co.uk/POEMS/You%20can%20shed%20tears%20that%20she%20is%20gone.htm

Both these sites have some lovely poems and prayers, they also have many other links that you and your family may find useful and comforting.

I just read this one too it is so beautiful, its quite long and you can find it at the address below, its called:

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me,

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
and all the fun we had

If I could re-live yesterday
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne.

He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.

You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.

But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

Think about all the qualities that you miss about her...think about the times that you have had together and talk about those things..What were things she did that you admired, or even think about times you got under each others skin..You love her very much and anything you say from the heart will come out how you want it. Your sister was obviously very special to you and I'm sure she already knows how much you love and miss her. Sorry for your loss..but I think you'll find the words you need when the time comes to express your feelings. Lots of Love.

I am so sorry.

The other answers are good.

If you do not feel up to writing your own poem you could also go to your local library to see what poetry books they have. Robert Frost or Maya Angelou are 2 you might look into.

My condolences, the pain of losing a loved one is hard to cope with. Yet as morbid as it sounds, it will inspire you. Try writing one yourself, its a lot more meaningful if you put your own thoughts and feelings into it rather then using someone else's poetry. Just sit down, think how you feel, the words will flow and everything said will be real.

I am standing in the sea shore,
a ship sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the ocean.
She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her
till at last she fades on the horizon
and someone at my side says,
‘She is gone.’
Gone! Where?
Gone from my sight--that is all.
She is just as large in the masts,
hull and spars as she was when I saw her,
and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination.
The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her;
and just at the moment when someone at my side says,
'she is gone’
there are others who are watching her coming,
and others take up a glad shout--
‘There she comes!’
