It takes a lot of discipline, self control, stamina, concentration, and hard work to obtain any rank in any Martial Art. Not only is it physically demanding on the body but psychologically as well.

The people that stick with it and continue to use its applications in their every day life are much less likely to be like the "morons" that type ridiculous questions such as this one.

Martial Arts as a Sport

Martial Arts as a sport has been on a steady incline since the late 1960s. It provides a method of testing your abilities in a controlled environment. The sparring is fast paced not only for the spectator, but requires precision skill and control by the competitor. In Martial Arts, you pull your technique, scoring points by showing the judges what you could do in a self defence situation. The Form competition shows a combination of grace and power in technique through a series of choreographed movements that represent the competitor defending themselves in a multi attack environment. Both provide a sense of self accomplishment and build confidence by performing in front of their peers and an audience

Well, similarly I have heard from some about those who hit the ground with their feet for a long time (jogging, running, etc.), pushing weights up and further, and all sports!
Thus, if some feel that doing so they could proceed! Who has defined sports? Pagkration (the ultimate martial arts sport) was among the Olympic sports in ancient Greece!

I think you do not know anything about martial arts and have not practiced it if you think it is just "kicking and punching" -- i don't know what a sport is but i know there is a lot involved in martial arts like control and discipline and balance and technique. You don't understand it and you might want to think twice before criticizing things you don't understand.

Because now days soccer moms pay to have Jr. or sis in a martial art class and with in a year or two they have paid for their black belts.they have fun and go to patty cake competitions and fat *** soccer mom can brag that Jr. and sis are black belts who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag with a chain saw. They wouldn't know what to do in a real self defense situation if their life depended on it.It's more of a day care center than a true martial art school any more

Martial arts aren't sports. They are a combat system and philosophy of living designed to help a person survive and succeed in deadly encounters and at life in general. Because of that philosophy and my Christianity I will refrain from spewing out the many witty and funny insults that come to mind because of your particular use of the word "gay".
