they are judging people based on their idea of Godliness.yes,we can make criticisms, but to say to someone you are a sinner like that is wrong.yes, there is a way to say this in a lovingly way without putting the person down.if i were to point out that God does not like lying and lying is a sin and God loves you but not the sin this is the correct way to say this.we must preach the good news but we cannot go to war with it.
God Bless

I think that you are right, that they don't consider themselves sinners. Which of course is impossible, because no one is perfect. The people who often say things like that see you doing something that they don't believe is correct. Never mind that they have their own sins in their lives, that they always seem to not mention! Baptists (the church my sister belongs to anyway) believe that if you aren't baptist that you are not saved and therefore won't go to heaven. They even criticize other Baptist churches. So it often comes down to the religion and how you practice it. The church my sister belongs to spend so much time saying other people won't go to heaven, that I honestly don't see what they themselves are doing to make sure they get there. Anyone can be baptized, but it's the way that you live up to being baptized. Next time you hear that phrase "sinners such as you" I recommend asking the person saying it, what their sins are and how they are being forgiven.
Just remember that the person pointing the finger at you has 3 pointing back at themselves!

it is a very distinct possibility, and i'm always appreciative to such people who take the time to point out how sinful i am in their attempt to cover up their own insecurities. having said that, i think such a person might mean:
No, only the sight of ugly kinky haired Jamaican looking men have. Especially the ones that are atheist and have no belief in anything. Hmm, you know anyone like that? By the way, I do not have any children and I am sexy size 6. Probably the best thing you have ever came in contact with!

While I don't know of anyone (personally) who would make such a statement, I would agree with your assessment. That type of pronouncement on another individual can only be made by someone who is deluded into self-righteously judging others (and subsequently thinking they are somehow morally superior). We ALL fall short...we ALL have an imperfect human nature. Only when we truly understand our own flawed condition will we be in a place where we can truly help others...

I would have to hear the whole conversation. However, it really should be "sinners such as myself and all of humanity." That is why we need a Savior.

I agree with you completely. As a Christian I would never say "sinners such as you" because we are all sinners. Christians need to remember that they are still sinners, they are just forgiven.

I guess its a possibility.
I have never actually used that sentence, but if I did, I think I would say,
"Sinners such as you and I".
In my Faith everyone is a sinner, not just a select few.

Their perception of you is such: YOU are a "sinner." In other words work on your nasty self approach.

Its much easier for people to judge others, but it takes a real person to be able to look in the mirror and hold judgement on themselves
