Because I'm thinking of moving to the city, but I work near O'Hare (actually a bit further out). My current commute is right around 30 mins, and I'm not sure I'd want it any longer than 45 mins or so.

I agree with everyone else about 35-40 minutes..Have you checked into the metro train which commute from some suburbs and traveling to the downtown area.Sometime the express lanes are open in either direction traveling to and from the downtown area.Good Luck with the traffic, join a car pool if you can.

averages about 40 minutes... can be as quick as 30 or as long as 60+, though.
Get a cab or limo, its the best way to get there.
