What Kind Of Bird Are You Talking About? The Finger Or Big Bird?

2006-06-06 03:41:15 · answer #1 · answered by mks 7-15-02 6 · 1 2

The Bird Flu IS a HUGE threat to the US for a couple of different reasons.

1) The Bird Flu mutates. It changes a little from time to time making "new" vaccines no longer effective. This means it's going to make people sick and many times the vaccines will not work to cure them.

2) Our hospital and hospital staffs are already filled/full many times throughout the year. Add to that the hundreds that could become ill from the bird flu and now you are maxed out. We are talking hospitals closing and locking their doors!

I work in the EMS field and people from the Local, State, & Federal groups are attempting to figure out ways to contain this flue if/when it happens to hit. One thing they are looking into is that if it hits bad enough... closing down cities or states. Not allowing people to leave so that the desease does not spread to an even larger area.

Yes! It is a threat for the United States. If it does it, it has the potential to become very, VERY bad situation.

Not about to end the world but nobody tells most birds where to go. Call it a Minor Threat. More likely your computer will blow up and send shrapnel at you. Just don't play with live birds.

For those people who don't think it will be a threat, current nursing students where I am from are being instructed to begin now with a few precautionary tactics, as they are being told, "not IF it happens but WHEN". One of the first things they are being advised to do is to start laying back non-perishable food items.

Another proof that the Media drives people behavior, this news about Bird flue just ended up by the beginning of Feb 06´ and no one else have worried about it anymore...

The new is being cut from every news chain (CBS, NBC, ABC, BCC, ETC!)...

Is it that there is no more risk, or what?

Of course. Birds migrate. They can come from Asia to the U.S., and vaccines don't always work. The U.S. would have to spend a lot of money on vaccines anyway if it became an epidemic here.

Never,
It is seen mainly in asian countries and by now only avian (bird) strain is found. No human virus strain is reported. Humans get infected only by close contact with infected birds so dont worry

no it doesn`t exist . i am a doctor and i`m telling u that if it had still been existing it`s NOT DANGEROUS it only happens to people who have or keep chicken as their pets. And if it does happen then the symptoms are just a bit of coughing or sour throat for just about 2 or 3 days and NOTHING MORE.
