Why do you want an unusual name? Many unusual names cause problems in later life. Children could make fun of him, guaranteed people will spell his name wrong throughout his life. The same applies to "normal" names with unusual spellings.

If you want a name that's a bit different, why not pick one with special meaning to you. You could name your son after a man in your life that is close to you, like your father or grandfather. I find it's nice to name a child after someone you miss who's died.

Or you could look on a website and pick a name with a meaning. For example, my name, Emma, means "universal".

Ultimately, it's up to you. I'm sure any name you choose will be lovely and suit your child. Good luck!

Ok, so I know its not a boys name but how about Scheherezade, if it turns out to be a girl after all. She was the storyteller of the famous One Thousand and One Nights (These included Aladdin and his Lamp, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and the Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor)The tale goes that every day the Persian King Shahryar would marry a new virgin, and every day he would send yesterday's wife to be beheaded. This was done in anger, having found out that his first wife was betraying him. He had killed three thousand virgins by the introduction of Scheherazade.

Against her father's protestations, Scheherazade volunteered to spend one night with the King. Once in the King's chambers, Scheherazade asked if she might bid one last farewell to her beloved sister, Dunyazad, who had secretly been prepared to ask Scheherazade to tell a story during the long night. The King lay awake and listened with awe to Scheherazade's first story and asked for another, but Scheherazade said there wasn't time as dawn was breaking, and regretfully so, as the next story was even more exciting.

And so the King kept Scheherazade alive as he eagerly anticipated each new story, until, one thousand and one adventurous nights, and three sons later, the King had not only been entertained but wisely educated in morality and kindness by Scheherazade who became his Queen.

And of course you can always shorten it to Sherry!

I think a name has to be grown into. Try to imagine what the baby is going to look like & think of names you think would suit him. do not decide until after he is born - you don't want to decide on Dwayne & have a baby who looks more like a William.

Some names I like are
Declan, Harrison, Patrick, Richard, Donald, Ryan, Ewan.

Good solid old-fashioned names are best. Anything too outlandish will just mean he gets the s**t kicked out of him in the playground.

I wanted an unusual name for my son too...then I realized that this child has to live with this name for the rest of his life. Kids are cruel, and will find anything they can to make fun of someone. Parents like to name their children something unique, but they don't stop to think about what it might cause for the child. Do what you want, but I'd stick with something easy and that won't get him made fun of. As much. Kids can come up with something for any name, but it's harder for a name that's used more often.

Try looking in the Old Testament in the Bible for unusual names. Obadiah, Ezekiel, Micah, Jonah and Malachi to name a few. Not too out there....

Garrison
or use some of the names in your family and make up a name from them. ( that's what we did for our daughter Kaelynne) kae ( kay) came from catherine and lynne is my middle name. Good Luck to u it's no easy task. Just practice saying the whole name and make sure it's something kids can't tease them with there's enough stress in this world without name calling.

I think strong names are a must, but a name suits a person if it matches their personality - weird huh? becuase you name the child before you discover their true personality. However, i do believe people come to match their name quite evenly most times... why? becuase we come to associate them with their name. What kind of personality do you envision your child having - yours? or your partners? or both?

If your personalities are strong - go for a strong name like
Alexandre - russian or french version
Braden
Branon
Denzel
Matthias - french or english version
Lyndon
Nathan

Less strong but sweet would be
Jackson
Jacob
Jadiah
Jordan
Malcolm
Antonio

Cute
Raydon
Nikko
Jessie
Romeo

And out of the ordinary
Any fruit or vegetable
Any state or city or country or planet (saturn)
Any type of car (Lexxus)
Any type of Jewellery (Diamond)
