I don't know if you can get over him if you are still seeing him regularly. Now I am all for remaining friends and what-not, but the friendship bit usually comes after you've been out of contact for a while, if you really cared about this bloke then it's only going to hurt more to constantly see him but not be able to be with him. Maybe you should stay in contact but at a certain distance, give yourself time to get over him. Get some new hobbies, learn to bellydance or skydive or something, when you feel like you are over him, when another bloke gains your interest then become closer again, otherwise it's just gonna keep on hurtin'.

be around other friends and hopefully have a new boyfriend in the near future. Talk to your closest best friend about it, put everything that reminds you of your relationship with him away or even give it back to him. go out and have fun, a new love will come around sooner or later and you will forget about it.

sometimes taking time out for yourself, being alone can do the trick too, depends on your need. I'm the type to want friends around or talk to a friend on the phone and keep busy so that im not thinking of him 24/7.

CLOSE THE LINE OF COMMUNICATION. I've tried that still friend bit. I wanted it to work just like you do. It doesn't, especially if you broke up over major circumstances. He will only be a constant pain and reminder of a time you probably want to forget. Erase all e-mail, telephone, yahoo messenger, AOL, letters...it's drastic, even may sound crazy to you. It is not crazy. Peace will follow. Sweet peace.

It's possible, it's goin to take a lot of will power. A no no would be trying to date just to get over him, it will never work. Just keep the conversation on a friendship level, every now and then you can talk about the times you shared. It always helps to talk. You will eventually get over him though, just don't let the lagging feelings get in the way of your friendship.

Looks like you're stuck in a rut, and also; I know how you feel. Try talking to him, but not too much, or he'll think that you're messed up. Start flirting, and looking for hot guys or guys that you might have a crush on. Move on, don't stay behind.

Its going to hard to do that, you need to be away from your ex for a while. I'm not sure being friends with him is a good idea. Your peace of mind is worth a lot more. My humble opinion.

You are friends only because you can't be with him the way you want to right? Time and finding a new love interest will help.
