Yes, my hubby heard on the radio that it does. I also feel that when you are asleep you cannot be eating. The longer people stay awake the more they eat. The less people sleep the fatter they get. Americans have slept less and less and they have become more and more obese. During sleep your body conducts a lot of healing and recovery activities. With no sleep it can't repair the damage. I don't know the exact mechanism why it helps you lose weight, but it came from a reputable source (NPR)

Too little sleep can be detrimental to making a positive physical change...but it is only a small player in a big orchestra that contributes to desirable weight loss.
The issue is more that lack of adequate sleep can play a role in weight gain or slowed weight loss.

My understanding is that we need 7 to 8 hours a night of sleep. Then you are rested and able to handle your food intake better. Lack of sleep and no doubt you will get up with the munchies.

Loosing weight is all about balance: healthy balanced diet, exercise and sleep, however even sleep has to be balanced. Sleeping the whole day won't make you loose weight. 6-8 hours per night is key.
