We just had his teeth cleaned about 3 months ago. His breath was perfect for like 2 weeks then back to smelling like a dead animal. We brush his teeth all the time but cant get rid of the smell. He chews on dental stuff to keep the tartar off but UGH! It's like smelling road kill!! Would it be safe to put like a little bit of like Crest mouth wash in his water dish??

We switch him to Pro Plan for sensitive stomachs about 2 months ago and the vomiting has stopped. He has been to the vet and there is nothing wrong physically. We also stay away from dog treats with coloring or flavor too.

He's not a poodle. He's a Bichon Frise and my kids put his ears up in a ribbon and put glasses on him for a picture. They were just fooling around!

I give my dog these green toothbrush-shaped biscuit things you can find at Petsmart and they work. If you can't find those then go to these links:

Bad breath happens for a number of reasons. If his breath wasn't smelly when you got him from the shelter it could be because of the food you are feeding him or because since you adopted him tartar has built up on his teeth. My dog gets his teeth brushed about once a month to keep the tartar down and if his breath gets bad before it's time for his brushing I give him Old Mother Hubbard Fresh breath treats. If his bad breath persists after brushing and possibly changing his food you will want to take him to the vet to see if there is something internally affecting his breath.

A few months ago I bought some Purina One for my Chihuahua. She was on Iams and she would nit pick eat it all day long. When I put the Purina One in her dish she did her normal routine of walking over, smelling it and then walk away. This time she didn't walk away and attacked it like it was a T-Bone steak.

About a month later, my neighbor came over with her chihuahua for a visit. When her dog was 7 it started throwing up everything it ate. The vet told her to feed her boiled chicken for a few days until she got over a stomach virus. Well, a few day turned into 5 years. She said every time she put her back on dog food she threw it up in short order.

While we were sitting in the kitchen talking her dog came in and walked to my dogs bowl, smelled the food and started eating like she never ate before. She never threw up her food. My neighbor bought her some and has been feeding it to her for three month.

Her dog now runs around and plays rough with mine, which she never did before. She would just lay down and hardly move. Now she acts like a 3 year old. Since she is 12, I find her behavior pretty amazing.

I am not a professional or anything about dogs, but his symptoms sound to me like acid reflux. If he barfs a lot and has bad breath, it could be that some stomach acid comes up his throat. We all know what stomach acid smells like (not pleasant.) Ask your vet if it would be ok to try giving him tums once a day or every other day. I know it helps with my acid reflux. I don't think there is anything in tums that would hurt a dog, but you might want to just call to make sure. Its a very inexpensive remedy if it works! Its worth a try!

When you feed him, put some sesime seeds into his food. Or, rub the sesime seeds into his mouth. If this doesn't work, brush his teeth with mouth wash. Just wet the brush with Scope and brush the inside of his mouth. You can rince it off easier. Most bad breathes are caused by the saliva on the tongue. Cleaning the tongue is a good start. If you don't want him to barf, take him to the vet (once is fine) and get him on a diet or medication. Hope this helps.

if its food you get from grocery store or wal mart that is probably most of the problem
