Most vagina's aren't that deep, so 6-7 inches long will do it, but the thicker the better. I like a nice fat regular cucumber better than one of these long skinny seedless ones.

Again, as with breast size preferences of men, it's all a matter of personal taste. I don't think it's really that important to many women.
