Almost every time a christian speaks, he refers to the bible as Gods word. What don't they understand. The Bible was written by ordinary men over many, many years. It is just like any other book; interesting stories, and pretty good drama, but where does the idea come from, that it is factual? If this is the case, maybe we all should pledge our love to, and worship Dr. suess!

A bunch of Protestant ministers started this nonsense around the time of the reformation. Since they rejected the Catholic church, which claimed to be the instrument of god on earth, they had nothing to lean on but the Bible itself.

The funny thing is, calling the Bible 'the word of god' would have been considered blasphemy in the early Christian movement, because that title was reserved for Jesus.

Correct. The Bible was written by men. But many people believe it was inspired by the Holy Ghost or by God (i.e. part of the trinity that makes up the Godhead.) The authors even mentioned it in their text, so that you would know that they were inspired: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness etc.

My question is, do you believe it is God's word? I'm currently undecided on this issue. This passage is inspired by God, (not really, but it proves that anyone can write that their writings were inspired)

Firstly...There are verses in the bible that prove and show it is Gods word ...the problem is going to be to show you...since you don't believe it..then you are automatically taking away any ability by a christian to validly show you....

I will tell you...That Jesus himself showed that He was not to give another man his OPINION,...but rather speak the word....

One example was with the devil himself ..when Jesus had finished fasting 40 days..

Matthew 4:1-10....read it...the most thing I found was when the devil ..tried Jesus each time Jesus continually used the word to combat him...The devil is our hardest enemy ..besides our own flesh...Jesus would say:.."for it is written,"

OK so if we follow the example of Jesus what do you think a christian is going to do??..

Look at John 7:14-18...Jesus was letting them know that His word was not ..his own word but that of God...but if a man speaks his own word..opinion then he is not sent of God....prior to that the Jews heard Jesus speaking marvelled because that he knew the word...without a man teaching him or showing him...because Jesus is the living word.

Now I am going to show you verses in the bible that will ultimately prove to you...of course if you don't want proof..rather an excuse..then it really doesn't matter what i show you...this is not a complete compilation but enough to prove to you...

Before I outline them...remember If you know anything about God you know He is Alpha and Omega which is the beginning and the end of ALL things...He has already in his mind seen the end of this world and and everything aquainted...He has seen your end ..and mine...

Jeremiah 33:20-21 Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21. Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant,
Ultimately right here what God is saying is if you can stop day and night from happening in it's place and change it's relationship..then you can change Gods word

Next...Psalms 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
Perfect meaning ...complete..there is no more additions..no davinci..lies or other books other than what is already written

Next..Ecclesiastes 3:14. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
Gods word is forever.Believe it or not there are another 2 verses like it in the New testament..Revelations 22:18-19..I usually save these for last but ...since they are similiar I will put them together...
Revelations 22: 18. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

So men..who you refer to as common men ..who had the fear of the Lord(the reverance of God) knew not to tamper as they wrote and were careful not to add or take away...

Next...Since we're on the subject of those men..
21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
These men were not men like you and I they were men of integrity...and were holy men of God..chosen by God to do his will...now I know that may sound far fetched..but I will not say anything to you without scripture so to see this in action ..go to the book of Jeremiah again...
Jeremiah 36:1-32 ..the whole chapter outlines a time when God spoke to a prophet of God and a scribe...was to write exactly what God spoke to the prophet..
In this story when the king heard it..he disregarded it as NOTHING..and burned it...and God commanded Jeremiah to write it again...

You see it is Gods word not ours and it cannot be destroyed or tampered with as I have shown you...

the reason we have night and day is because...Gods word and promises cannot be broken...

Still another 2 scriptures ...words of Christ that say..
Matthew 5: 18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

What Jesus himself is saying is before even one jot or tittle of Gods word fails or is made null and void..heaven and earth would pass away..

The reason why we're still here????..is because men DO NOT POSESS THE CAPABILITY TO DESTROY IT.

Again Jesus says in ..
Matthew 24: 34. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Speaking of the prophecies he had just spoke to the Apostles...He says all of these things will hapen before the end...but none of these things will fail..

Finally an Apostle Peter writes in....
2 peter 1:16. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
They witnessed Christ being transformed and heard God himself speak from heaven.....but...Peter says ..
2 Peter 1: 19. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Hearing Gods voice from heaven is a great thing A mighty thing a powerful thing..but for you and me..right now it is nothing more than hearsay...I didn't hear it or you..so what can be said...BUt when Peter says we have a more sure word of prophesy..He is speaking of the written word..that last millineums...LOOK CLOSELY a more sure word of Prophesy...Remember Jeremiah and Baruch..
Now that you have the word established..the part of interpretation..or interpreting...
2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

We are not allowed by God to have our own personal interpretations...so to think Christians come up with what we think is right..is not allowed..we are under the guidance of the Holy Ghost..it is He that teaches us ALL things and brings into our rememberance that which Christ has spoken...
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

He cannot teach us anything that is a lie...He will not allow us to use anything that is a lie..to teach someone else...

SO who am I gonna believe...You or God who dwells on the inside of me...

I pray you consider your words..and Are not found wanting in the presence of God...Trust the Lord and believe on Him who paid the price of our /your sins with his blood and his life...(Thank God he rose again) He will be your Judge...God bless
