like the guy above me said, jvc offers a line of hdd cameras. the only thing thats really limiting you is how much youre willing to pay. however, remember that just because its recorded digitally onto a hard drive doesnt mean it has the best quality. hdd cameras still use mpeg-2 compression (how else would it fit?) which (slightly) reduces picture quality. great for direct transfer to dvd, but if youre planning on editing etc. then go for minidv cams. i think www.camcorderinfo.com is a great website for choosing cameras and remember when choosing, look for features such as zoom (optical), low light performance, etc. as well. and remember if youre in it for ease of use, get a hdd, but for picture quality, minidv is always king (at least for mere mortals like us)

I have a JVC Everio hard drive camcorder. I have the 20 gig model which at full resolution can record for 4.5 hours but there are other models (I've seen a 30gig) It's a good little camera, slightly more expensive (I got a great deal on mine though) but you'll never have to buy a mini dv or tape, you can either keep on your computer's hd or burn straight to cd/dvd with the included software, which if you know how to use a cd writer you'll have no problems whatsoever. Only fault I'll give it is battery life but I think this is with all camcorders, they want you to buy their expensive upgrades, I got a double cap battery from the net, a third of the price JVC wanted for a 'genuine' one.

Sony has a 3.3 megapixel hdd camcorder though the price is a bit steep ($1,000). It has a 30gb hard drive, manual focus, Super NightShot Infrared System and Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens. Also has the capability of capturing still images in jpeg format and the mic has a built in 5.1 channel.

Generally Sony, Panasonic are great brands to buy for Video cameras, I am not sure if they make a Hard drive model or not but I would go with the Mini DV tape models. Your limiting yourself on recording space with the Hard drive.

Im uncertain of the record gadget for PS3. i be responsive to that the Western digital exterior Drives do comprise courses that open the drives sort of like the Sandisk Cruzers. in case you quite need to format the stress you may wipe it sparkling with a application referred to as dBan. You google dban for receive yet make certain you receive from the dBan website. once you wipe the hardrive it wipes without hint and maximum possibly there'll be no longer something on the demanding stress and PS3 will register the stress.
