Put them in the freezer for a few minutes before you cut them. You don't want to freeze them solid, but you want them very cold. It works like a charm. If your preparing something with meat that you need to cut into slices or cubes; do the same thing. It makes cutting a wiggly piece of meat a breeze.

Always turn on the cold water tap when working with onions! No more tears! Also to get that onion smell from your hands afterwards, pour a little table salt in your palm and rub together with a stainless steel spoon!

Whistle while you cut the onion. As dumb as it sounds, it works! The part of the onion that makes you cry is attracted to moisture (that's why it goes to your eyes and makes them tear and sting). If you whistle while you're chopping them, the first place the onion "gas" (for lack of a better word, lol) gets to is your damp breath (whistle). I didn't do a very good job describing this, but it works. Just whistle! :)

This very simple!!! Refrigerate before cutting up to 20 minutes before. Another method is boil the onion. I found this grest site that explains it better that what i could do. The cold of the fridge slows the chemical reaction of the sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid is what makes your eyes water and make you cry rubbing it only makes it worse.

My eyes don't water near as bad, if I run a light stream of tap water and peel it under the running water. Then, I use a "chopper" to cut them up. Slicing still presents a problem (but still less tears if I have peeled it under water). When my eyes do get affected, I stick my head in the freezer for a moment, with my eyes open. A little odd, and my husband always laughs, but it instantly relieves them.

well you can try these two things which almost always work for me so do try them dear!
1)peel them and soak them in water AND
2)burn a candle while cutting onions as onions contain a volatile sulphur compound found in all the members of the allium family-allyl sulphide-this is what causes the tears-the flame normally destroys this compound-do try it and try to cut onions in a place where u have enough ventilation and wind.
best of luck sis!

keep your mouth shut. the onion fumes permeate your sinuses easier when your mouth is open. You want to breath through your nose because it has built in protection.
