1 package german chocolate cake mix
1 can sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
1 jar butterscotch-caramel-fudge ice cream topping (recommended: Mrs. Richardson's)
1 large tub cool whip
4 Heath candy bars, crumbled/chopped roughly
Bake cake according to box directions in 13 X 9 pan. Remove from oven and cool slightly in pan. With the handle of a wooden spoon, poke 18 holes in cake (three rows of six holes per row). Pour condensed milk all over cake and in holes. Pour ice cream topping over cake and in holes. Cool completely. Sprinkle half the crushed candy bars over cake. Spread cool whip over cake and top with remaining crushed candy bars. Cover and refrigerate.
I'm sorry I can't give you exact measurements for the condensed milk...I'm typing this recipe from memory, and honestly can't remember! Just the small can...maybe it's 8 oz? As for the Mrs. Richardson's topping...that's hard to come by. I've made it with just butterscotch caramel topping (without the fudge) and it's just as good.

The recipe from brevejunkie is the closest to how I have made it in the past. I am not that picky about what kind of chocolate cakes mix I use. Any kind of chocolate works fine for me. I also only use one candy bar. I'm sure 4 would be all the better, but not necessary. Make sure not to add the candy bar until right before you are ready to serve the cake or it will get soft and gross.
This is how I prepare better than sex cake. P.S. I call it better than anything cake when I bring it to work.
prepare chocolate cake per pkg instructions in a 13x9 (large rectagle cake pan)
while hot poke holes throughout cake
pour 1 can sweet and condensed milk and one jar of caramel topping over cake (when I didn't have one or the other I just used one and it still tasted really good)
let cool.
spread 1 tub of cool-whip over top
keep refrigerated
sprinkle crushed heath bar on top just prior to serving. Use as much or as little as you like. (you can buy the candy bar and crush it yourself, or you can buy the bits already in your grocery store by the chocolate chips. I usually just buy the bits and then the next time i want to make cookies I use the left over bits instead of chocolate chips.)
Also, another winner of a cake that is super easy and nice and light for the summer is Jello Cake.
bake a white cake mix per the pkg instructions in a 13x9
poke holes in cake while hot
pick out your favorite flavor of jello (strawberry is always a hit), in a bowl mix the jello pkg with 1 cup boiling water to dissolve gelatin, pour liquid evenly over cake.
cool in refrigerator
spread cool whip over top and serve
