Sorry I have heard that Jan is still riding. Not sure who told me he wasn't! Sorry about that...

Basso is a strong rider, young and has a great team with great support riders. Jan is a possibility, but he needs to attack in the mountains to string out his competitors, rather than wait for the attack to occur and try to respond. Floyd Landis is another rider who skipped the Giro, and is preping for the tour.

From what I can tell, Jan Ullrich is still going to start the TdF this year. Basso looks good since he crushed everyone at the Tour of Italy. But there is also Floyd Landis, George Hincapie, and Jan Ullrich who could contend. They are all supported by strong teams. I am putting my money on Floyd Landis - team Phonak.

I am convinced Basso is going to win. After the Giro there is no stopping this guy. They ride Canadian made Cervelo bikes, which ar the most high tech bikes 'engineerd' in the world.
