elliebear & freeky... well said. I agree with everything you say. You put it in a non judgemental way and with no abuse (what do you think of that speedloc).

You can get AIDS or another disease, you can be blackmailed as a result, if your other half finds out you will badly hurt them, and divorces are expensive.

Marriage is a commitment, a bond of trust between a man and a woman.

Committing adultery is defiling that trust. You are basically saying that a woman should have sex with anyone she chooses and that fidelity is just a long word that gets in the way.

If she has no faith in her marriage, that is her problem to solve, but you should not aid and abet her moral turpitude in this. Unless you are just as amoralistic as she is.

Once a cheater, always a cheater.

First, it betrays the trust of your spouse and creates unnecessary tension and hurt. Even if s/he did the same, please don't stoop to their level.

Second, it complicates matters. Divorce, love triangles, resentful or traumatized spouses/children/family members, unexpected pregnancies, AIDS, the list of possibilities is endless...

Third and most importantly, even if you try to deny it or justify it, chances are you'll be left feeling guilty or hurt.

My grandma got into adultery. It left my mother rather scarred.

My grandfather got married again because the first was an arranged marriage and they weren't really compatible. It seemed like a honeymoon but family reunions were hell for a while until they reconciled their differences.

There is a good reason why not. Being in intimate/physical relationship with someone is not like saying hi...bye. it involves a deeper emotional tie. Adultery causes deep hurt to many...to those involved and those related to them. It is not easy to get over such hurts. If you are married you have committed yourself to one person till death do you part. The dictionary meaning of adultery is - Infidelity, disloyalty, falseness, treachery, betrayal, deceitfulness, faithlessness.. If you would like to have such a character then maybe you should go ahead and commit adultery.

I think that people should be with someone that someone they want to be faithful to. Otherwise, I don't see the point. It's just too intimate a thing, really. Also, the risk of disease and unwanted pregnancy if birth control fails
Rremember that a relationship is built on trust.

You shouldn't cos you will likely hurt your partner in a way that may never be healed if she finds out. The ramifications of this are vast and it will be on you.

Also, perhaps you want to feel a bit special in this crazy world we live in. You can do that by staying faithful to one partner, making her feel special and in turn she will make you feel special.

Sounds a lot better than the few minutes of pleasure from cheating on her.

one simple motto. "do no harm." despite any religious teaching, most thinking people would agree to that one. especially when it comes to someone that you supposedly care about. that still allows for freedom, individuality, free thought, etc. its only restriction is behavior that could hurt someone (and substantially hurting a person could also be used as a litmus test for this philosophy). in either case adultery can cause substantial harm, albeit emotional.

Um, have you tried pricing a divorce recently?

When I got mine 15 years ago it was around $15K, and I was not particularly rich. Paul McCartney's is going to cost him a third of a billion, and they parted on good terms.

So how much is that night out worth to you?

Because when you got married you promised not to.
If you want to see others just get a divorce.
Its not worth all the pain and aggravation that comes with cheating.
