My fiance and I are trying to plan our wedding, reception, etc.. anyway we were just thinking that we would go to the justice of the peace or something like that. small, just us. But i know that we have to have witnesses. It is difficult to choose because his parents divorced and remarried to someone else etc... my parents aren't here. We don't want to hurt people's feelings. we were planning on having a large reception afterwards where everyone would be invited. any suggestions ???

Explain to his parents that you do not want any hard feelings, but you would like it if the people you were to pick as "best man" and "maid/matron of honor" would be your witnesses. Let them know that it would be too awkward for your ceremony at the Justice of the Peace for too many people. Let them know you want to keep it small and simple and figured this to be the best way. Also make sure you set them up at a special table, maybe not all together at the same table, but that they will have their own special tables near you and your husband at the reception.

Good luck.............

siblings? best friends? quite honestly, you could have some random people who are there as witnesses. kudos, on not having a big wedding. save that money for the honeymoon:-) i also think it's a good idea to have a reception. that's where you get all the gifts:-D

if you dont want to hurt anyone's feelings...i would suggest you take your grandparents, or someone with whom you are not so close with...the ideas from the other people above might work, although it won't be so personal any more! good luck!
