Bird Food?? I know if my parrots were only offered bird food such as seeds and nuts that food is going to be dumped on the floor. Out baby African grays were raised on Commerical handfeeding food then introduced to Gerber baby foods, fruits, meats, veggies. So they know what they like. Now that they are all adults I always fix them a plate of what ever we have having for a meal. That includes cooks meats fruits and veggies. Stay away from can vegies there is too much salt in them. African Gray are a high protien bird, so you will need to make sure their diet cantains protien.

Hmmmm well my grey will eat just about anything....I give my birds (greenwing macaw, goffin cockatoo and congo african grey) a seed/pellet mixture and everyday a different variety of fruits/veggies...they also get pasta when I make some for dinner...basically whatever I eat thats healthy they get a taste of it..EXCEPT for avacado and chocolate..the first can kill your bird....but what my grey loves the most is pomegranates and tuna casserole!!!

Lafeber Nutriberries are an excellent base food. I give my african grey a variety on top of the base food. He enjoys (and it is safe) peeled carrots, plain shredded wheat, green grapes, raw brocolli and cauliflower, peanuts (in shell from petsmart) (dont use grocery store ones they can be toxic) banana, oranges, apples. Those are what he loves and what is safe. Go to the Lafeber website and it has a bunch of info on there. Hope this helped

They should be fed mostly pellets and some seed. But also a lot of veggies and some whole grain. You can try a little fruit.

and don't forget nuts. peanuts and almonds in the shell(my grey loves them) and shelled walnuts. try corn on the cob, sweet potatos, grapes, boiled eggs. you'd be surprised at the veriety of food your grey will enjoy. PLEASE, don't limit him or her to pre packaged bird food alone
