The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. At about the same time in various towns and cities across American other people were beginning to celebrate a "father's day." In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a national Father's Day. Finally in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.

Speaking as a father, I can tell you, my day is gonna come. One day, it's gonna come and things will be great and plans will work out and somebody will notice that I'm alive - apart from the times when they are reaching into my jacket to rifle my wallet, I mean - and I'll get enough sleep and a moment of peace, maybe with somebody who might even want to talk to me without screaming about how unfair it all is, possibly even ask about what I think, how I feel, what sort of a day I had. They may even say something appreciative or even complimentary, like: "You know what, you are not actually the world's worst man.'' or "Thanks for working yourself to death to make all this possible. It may seem to you like I don't appreciate anything about this nice house or the good food or the clothes on my back or the educational leg-up you've given me and the many opportunities you help provide but, really I do.'' And, on that day, my wife is going to say: "Wow, I just realised, you are gorgeous. Why don't us two, you and me, just the two of us, go upstairs and have mad, crazy nekkid fun all afternoon before I take you out for a great meal and a drink?''
My day is coming. It's gonna come. It's gonna come.

June 18th 2006.

Not long now.

That is the date in UK. Is it the same all over the world ?

Would be interested to learn.

Also not sure if this is the case in other countries but in UK Mothers day is nine months after Fathers day in March.

Did someone have a warped sense of humour. LOL.
