Does any one have any info on how stars might 'move'? A few times now I, along with friends, have seen what appear to be normal stars in the night sky except they are moving slowly, almost like aeroplanes (which they are not, I might add...we live over thirty miles from the nearest flight path and they have flashing lights, just plain star light!).

Bizarrely a few of these 'stars' seem to stop and alter course when they get close to real star, almost moving round it.

Any ideas?

Stars don't move our sun is a big star it is our planet that orbits our star so that is why it seems like the stars move my lov.

could be trick of light. the stars are moving across our sky all the time so you will see movement. also, what are you aligning with the stars to see if it's moving? sometimes clouds and other things can make them look like they are moving. sometimes they are satalittes and are actually moving. so many answers so little time.

They could be, and most likely are, satellites orbiting the earth. Stars themselves are only moving outward from the point at which the big band occurred and their movements in the sky are imperceptible so what you have seen is not a star.

The 'star' you've seen may also have been one of the planets in our solar system, but it seems unlikely as there movements would also be very hard to see.
