Do you know why he has the sore? If not, you should take him to the vet because it could be mange, which is contagious and you can get it, or it could be a hot spot, which will spread and will not heal without the proper medication, which you need to get from the vet.
You can use neosporin if he won't lick it off. I have used it on my dog when his allergies have made him scratch his skin, and it does help keep it from getting infected. Clean the spot well, first, though. Otherwise you're just smearing goo on top of dirt, which isn't helping anything.

truly, in the adventure that your dogs's wounds are scabbed over, i does no longer be conscious the neosporin, because it gained't do any good besides. The scab itself acts as a protective protecting for the wound. in case you be conscious neosporin, you no longer in straightforward words delay the healing procedure, even with the undeniable fact that it is going to also reason the dogs to scar particularly of heal properly. i ought to in straightforward words be conscious neosporin to an open wound.

Yes. Most medicines affect dogs the same way they affect humans. You can even give dogs aspirin if they are in pain or antibiotic ointments if they need it. Just use the appropriate amount according to the size of the dog/puppy.

But you don't want the dog to lick it off. That would not be could. Have him wear a T shirt after applying the medicine.

My vet says that it is ok to use on a dog, but you should still have it checked, to be on the safe side and not be accused of animal neglect.
