My husband had only one ford for his job and it so far has been OK. But then it is only a 2002. I have had a Camero Rally Sport 1978 with a 350 that could really fly and was a car that everyone envied. I have had Chevy trucks haul big Horses trailers that had living quarters and never had any problems. I even have a 91 Chevy pick-up that my son drove for 4 years and it is still a great truck to haul hay on and is still kickin. I love my Limited Toyota 4-Runner which got some of the best ratings for safety and I have an older Merceades that has no problems. My brother restores Mustangs and some had major problems so he just rebuilt the engines for the people and then they ran ok. I was raised in a family that not only had horses but raced cars , from Dodge to Plymouth to Cameros. Its not the car sometimes its your knowledge of the machine. You will find fault in all cars cause all cars will have propblems and upkeep. Look what happened when Ford decided to cut corners and use cheep tires on their Explorers, and those people were killed on highways when those tires blew out. Big lawsuit on Ford. My husband had to have his Ford tires replaced before his 3 year warranty was up with only 33,000 miles. Now come on I have tread on my 4-Runner thet is 1/4 deep still and only have 45,000 miles on it. I have a GMC Jimmy 93 that I got 60,000 miles out of those tires and the only problems I had was upkeep which everyone has to do ! The constuction companies here are all switching to Chevy cause of all the problems with Ford. They won't even dicker with price on fleet vehicles. We own our business and since I run the company I will take my business to someone that will work with me. At 3.00 a gallon of gas I am not going to pay the price of a house for a car.Your passion for Fords can change as mine did with material things. Yes, my brother has a Shelby GT but it is one of the ones they no longer make and it is sharp. Never driven only taken to shows . I think one mess of a joke Ford pulled was when they said they would remake the T-Bird.I acually got excited til I saw what a joke that body was on the car. My husband ask the sales person at the Ford dealership about the T-Bird and he even said " Your wife is better off buying a good 4-Runner for the same price as this T-Bird so if a salesman said that to loose a sale he was an honest man that had seen first hand what junk that Ford was. The only person I know who bought one of those is Oprah who has money to throw it away if she doesn't like it. Ford sales were so bad that they obtained the rights to put King Ranch on their special adition trucks then turned around and made the truck look like a boring box. Now, To answer your question. I am a person with much car expereince and I am sure that some people do find Fords in their yards when they mow their grass. To further answer your question, You had to have that many Fords because you needed a spare to drive when the rest were in the repair garage.Maybe the Chevy your Mom owned was an older one that some previous owner drove to its grave and she could not afford the new one so had to make do with the old man Chevy EH !

Contrary to what you believe Ford's are simply not the best car/truck in the world. They sell a lot of trucks, yes, but that doesn't mean they are the best. If you are using sales to determine the best car then Toyota must be better than Ford since they sell more cars/trucks than Ford...right? Seems to me in used vehicles, the Chevy truck always costs more than any comparable Ford. What's that mean? And I'm not so old that my memory forgets that the Camaro, up until they quit making them, always kicked the Mustang's butt in every car magazine comparo I ever read. I remember Jack Roush was given a new Mustang GT to modify. After doing $10,000 worth of mods the STOCK Z-28 Camaro still beat the 'stang. F-O-R-D can also be an acronym for FoundOnRoadDead. I wear my bowtie with pride.

To start with Ford has had more problems then any car man. out there. I can't evan believe they are still going. One recall after another. Fires, accidents, and lots of break downs. And as far as the Mustang goes it was a big fire starter as well. Ask all the burn victims it left behind. Muscle cars? Ford can't evan compare with the muscle cars GM and Chrysler put out in that era. And if company's are using Ford trucks it's because they gave the company a better price. They have to to stay in business. You should do a little of your own research and maybe you'd change your mind. I worked on Fords at a dealer ship and would never own one. GM all the way!!!!!

I own a Ford Truck, for two reasons, the price, and the 300 inline Six motor or 4.6 they call it now- some moron at Ford ended the use of that engine- why don't those jerks know that engine is Sacred to the auto ethusiest.

I may not buy a Ford next time- I will look for the Best most reliable engine- which probably will not be a Ford V6.

I towed my Cabin Cruiser from Dallas to Michigan with that 300 six - best engine ever made in America.

Now you why Ford and GM are going broke, they keep shooting themselves in the foot.

I think Ford should give you a commission for that.

Top muscle car? No way, sorry nothing beats a 67-69 Camaro.
Blows that Stang off the line.

I am sorry but, Ford has done nothing but let us down. Every single one we have owned, they have all sucked. Trans probs, recalls, issue after issue. And these were brand new vehicles. Hence the saying... Found On Road Dead!

I am not a Ford fan sorry, they have left us stranded too many times.

the ford company is a good car maker, but, i will tell you,
1. the Mustang wasnt the hottest Muscle, it was the Pontiac GTO, The first Muscle, later the Dodge Challenger or Cuda, and then the mustang

2. years and years of preparation for the GT40 WIN THE RACE,and it was really Beautifull that Ford shut up Enzo Ferrari

Found On Road Dead! you forgot that one! I agree with bill. I had an 1994 F150 with an 4.9 or straight 6 (300) Loads of torque, and great for pulling heavy loads. Why did Ford quit making this engine? Too good for their reputation? With Honda now making trucks it will not be long before the Japanese takes the American truck market also.

Every major car or truck manufacturer in America has had a good vehicle and year. I currently own and drive a 1984 F-150 with the 300 inline six cylinder in it. This engine has 268,000 miles on it and still hauls full loads of firewood from a hilly woods with no problem. Granted we put coil springs under the box,but that says nothing of the dependability of this wonderful engine. Ford made a mistake when they quit offering this engine in their trucks.
