i've had one or two brushings with the law for minor driving offences and found them to be dishonest, rude and offensive.

Mikey are you for real, they start on around £22,000 and things go up from there!!! In answer to the question yes I do think most police are dishonest send a thief to catch a thief as my dear old dad used to say!!! Also kilroymaster needs to open his eyes and see that the police condemn groups of people on a daily basis from the actions of a few, I ride a motorbike and come summertime can't travel more than two miles without being pulled because some bikers speed, use illegal cans and numberplates etc. look at their shoot to kill policy on trains, all of a sudden everyone carrying a back pack and running for a train is a terrrorist!!!

From my experience most policemen are dishonest and racist, they will do whatever they can to make people's lives a misery , especially in the black community, i have seen this all my life, but being an assistant solicitor i have also seen a few (very few) good police officers, mainly women who want to help and believe in there job. In order to see the best side of the law you have to be in a certain posision, otherwise they WILL treat you anyway they see fit, which is often with contempt

Well, I have never known a family member of a police man to have to follow the law the same as any other citizen. Usually they cover up crimes their family members commit, and intimidate witnesses who might testify against them. The same applies to the police themselves, I have never known a cop who drove drunk and caused an accident to get the same penalty anyone else would, almost always the report of the accident is "lost" or witnesses suddenly "forget" what they saw.

So I would say yes, most are dishonest.

Dishonest? Doubt it. Rude and offensive.... probably. My few brushes with the law (traffic tickets and accidents) have mostly left me with a negative impression. But they do an unpopular job and deal with liars and deadbeats all day, so I think we can cut them some slack for being a bit jaded.

No most are very honest, often if they see someone young doing something dangerous, they will be direct ( an be misunderstood as rude) they don't want to hear your side of it, so merely shut up and let them talk and write you a ticket. If you argue at all, they will be offensive at times in telling you to remain silent.

Most often if you find bad behavior, you often start it by not merely letting them write thier tickets and merely only answering thier questions.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. If the system does not effectively curb the corrupt officials in the Police, it is the unbridled power that corrupts them. Why should we blame individual police man; we should rather blame the ineffective system. Corruption in the police is also found to be proportionate to the degree of corruption among the people to which the particular police belongs. Hence, people get the police they deserve!

you can not condemn an entire group of people or the entire police force, By the actions of a few. Most men and woman believe in what they do and act accordingly but a very few believe that the world owe them because of the job they hold.....

i think its dependent on the situation and hw you yourself react to the police.

if you listen to what they have to say calmly then they are fine but ts when you start getting lippy back to them that they get agitated,. as any normal person would.

and as for minor driving offences? its probably because they know that it is a waste of time that they could be spending on other major crimes. just drive carefully and you wont have to talk to the police!
