Does it have to be boring to follow your faith and worship only God??

Can a believer partake in the secular world as well as the religious world ?

Of course! I'm a Mormon and I still have a boyfriend, go watch movies, I go to college and hang out with my friends, I go to parties and play basketball, listen to music and browse the internet, chat on MSN and go shopping etc etc etc. I'm living the life of your average teenage girl! I don't drink or smoke or take drugs, but then again I don't need to - I save my self money and I can have fun without them. I'll watch whatever movies I want, although I generally choose not to watch the really scary ones and if I think something is being stupidly blasphemous I might not choose to watch it (I watched Underworld and the Da Vinci Code and stuff though, so it takes a lot to detter me). I can listen to whatever music I want, it doesn't matter if it's about something that I wouldn't do like taking drugs or having pre-marital sex or whatever, I can appreciate the music for it's sound rather than it's message. I live the life of most other 16 yr old gals - i'm the only Mormon I know outside of church. I go to church twice a week and attend firesides etc, but i'm not that different to anyone else I know.

Hope this helps! :o)

Duh. Why do it if it's excruciatingly boring? If God isn't relevant in your daily life, than you should explore other gods and goddesses that might be. If religion is all about stern seriousness and strict behavior then get out of it! That is a control mechanism and is not about your own spiritual growth. You should, at least, change your view on God. Since He is a part of you, and everybody, He too has a sense of humor, fashion, and fun. You just have to find the right way that you and He work together. He is always around and knows everything, right? So He cant' be such a joy-kill as the clergy wants you to think, right? If you know what everyone thinks you have to be a tolerant, accepting, and easy-going person. Unless He's an uptight psycho. Is your God an uptight psycho? Does He hate most people? There again is another good reason to find another religion. I hear that Buddha is pretty jolly....

Well Christianity is definitely not a boring religion. If you listen to someone preaching they always make jokes (not dirty jokes of course) and people always have fun. So yes you can partake in the secular world but just spend more time in the religious world to srengthen your faith. Have fun!

First you need to define 'fun'. Whatever we do in secular world we have to have positive intention and religion also teaches us how to be good and have positive intentions towards life, people and world so that we can lead a meaningful life in secular world. No religion is saying to do bad things which will harm you or the society or the world. So it depends how you define it. Religion is just a guidlines to lead a meaningful life. If you want a meaningful life then yea stick with religious values. If religious believe is so boring then why people celebrate Christmas and other religious festivals and have a fun. So choice is yours...........

You have the right to enjoy every moment of your life.

In fact, as I understand it, you came here specifically to experience love, enjoyment, peace... everything which you now consider "positive" is what you are here for.

SO WHY DO ANYTHING ELSE?

Current society is built largely in order to CONSTRAIN individuals from enjoying themselves too much - and, I'm sad to say, it seems that many religions have followed suit. (This is why I have rejected both to a great extent.)

There are belief systems that you can follow that allow you to "have fun at the same time", and you have EVERY RIGHT to seek them.

Now I'd like to address worshipping.
You were created in God's own image. In my mind, that doesn't mean that God also had arms and toes and hair. I see God as an infinite existence without shape or boundary - in fact, I see no difference between the Universe and God. God IS the Universe. You were created in God's image in that you have God's own unlimited potential and creative power. Use it! You worship God by EXPERIENCING him, by experiencing life. Choose something and experience it fully, until you are satisfied - then move on to what next appeals to you. THAT is worship - it may seem like anarchy, but living without all your self-imposed restrictions brings a high sense of peace and power to love, to give, to experience...

Contact me if you would like to learn more about the beliefs I have chosen. There is a good chance that they are not inconsistent with yours.

I am a Seventh-Day Ronaldinhist. Our religion believes that God gave one true son to the world, a pure child with a footballing ability beyond that of any mortal human. And big teeth that make him look like a horse.

In our religion, we are required to watch every match of the World Cup, while drinking of the sacred beer and eating of the sacred junk food.

It's a pretty good religion - I can send you a pamphlet if you like

Religion is just a collection of folks trying to decide how you
should live your life. If that makes you happy within their guidelines , so be it. Dont hold your breath waiting for Jesus
to come back to save you from something or other. Some folks
just like others to take responsibility of thinking for them. For those, the secure feeling of church or the military are for them.
We all know what being a good person is without either, so that
is my endeaver.

Absolutely. For proof - come to my hen night. It's being held at the church, there will be no alcohol, but we have a live band and a rock disco, and we will have the most fabulous array of food ever. Personally I have had much more fun since I joined the church. My sociak life is much improved and - be honest - how much fun is the pub/club scene really? You may call it "fun", but does it actually make you happy?

Seems to me faith should increase the joy you have in life, Jesus constantly said "Fear not." The Prophet Muhammed said ,"Faith{religion} shouldn't be a compulsion." My personal view is that God would like us to think about life a little less, and live it a little more. That way we impact more people and ourselves each day with more love and caring.
