It will unless I'm watching with you. ;) Seriously, the only problem with regards to sitting close to a TV is that it stresses the eyes out. I'm severely myopic, and watching TV a lot as a kid probably didn't help my vision at all, as I didn't look far away for enough time in the day to counteract eye stress. To be more specific, it wears out the muscles that contract your lens so that you can see closer. So, the best bet is to take an eye break for at least 30 seconds once every 15 minutes, although I'd also suggest not watching too much television, as that isn't a healthy lifestyle.

The best way to not harm your eyes is by positioning your TV correctly, so it's a decent distance away, without any major sunlight falling on the screen. And to limit how much you watch.
Not quite what you asked, but it'll work better than any eye-friendly tv.

I agree with sekhtet, but if you're looking for the best brand that doesn't harm the eyes, it's got to be an LG Flatron.

Watching television doesn't harm your eyes. If you sit too close, or watch tv in the dark you might get eye strain, but that's about it!

LCD and Plasma TV's have less eye strain than DLP or Rear Projection TVs.
