An aggressive effort by all nations to switch to renewable sources of energy, with special attention in the largest polluters--US, China (their polluting power is growing in leaps and bounds and must be curtailed immediately), India, Soviet Union. Current producers of nonrenewable forms should be encouraged and helped to convert their operations to renewable forms. We have the technology to go solar and wind; let's invest more time and effort in these areas and phase out of nonrenewable areas. Yes, this will take a lot of time and money, but look at what we waste money on now! And our future is at stake. Everyone has the power to do something--volunteer with an environmentally conscious organization; make simple changes in your lifestyle to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions--see sources below.

Development of hydrogen fuel cells and lithium ion batteries as greener alternatives to petrol, diesel and LPG, in cars and buses and vans, ie stop our reliance on fossil fuels.
Nuclear energy should not be regarded as safe, Remember Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. Wind, water and solar power are clean, nuclear is not,

Have forestry projects where the wood grown is chipped and used to fill redundant coal mines - a carbon sink - you could also landfill paper that is unable to be further recycled in these sinks

all diesel commercial buses and trucks and stronger regulation for corporations who contribute to the politicians who make it easy to pollute.
we've had emission check on our cars in usa for over 10 years and it has made absolutely no difference in air quality, just a scam to raise money for government.
