If you ask the shop, they will be able to pack it in a box. Hand carry it with you, and as it cannot be checked in or else you may ruin it. Just inform the check-in counter staff about this and have them help arrange with the airplane crew to put it away when you board the plane. Hope this helps.

Congratulations in advance, by the way

Definitely in a dress box with plenty of padding if you have beading.
Tie thick ribbon four ways like a parcel around the box and make a carry strap. When you have everything else in your hands this will allow you to carry it on your shoulder.
Let the airline know and they can make sure there is a place to stowe it in advance.
Make sure that you have enough time to let your creases hang out when you get there cos these can happen even only after a few hours.
Take a really good coat hanger with you and a large/wide plastic cover for the dress so you can hang it properly and avoid anyone's hands messing up the dress before the big day.

Congratulations and have a geat life with your partner.

I would not pack it. I would have it mailed by the shop. If you have to carry it, make it carry on in a very nice garment bag for robes. That way it does not get lost.
