To be a muslim is to pledge (shahada) the above covenant with Allah, the Creator of the heavens and earth, the Ruler of all that exists, the Lord of Majesty and Highness, stating La ilaha il Allah, Muhammad -ur-Rasool-Allah, but first one must understand what this means.
Believing "La ilaha il Allah" (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)
there are 3 aspect of shahada:
- A confession with your heart that the Creator (of everything) is Allah
- A confession with your heart that you have to say: "I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone."
- Tauhid-al-Asma was-Sifat (testify that all the best of names and the most perfect qualities of Allah)

Shahada is the firt pillar (of five) to become a Muslism:
1. To believe in your heart and testify that There is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger (this needs to be translated into actions - following the teachings of Islam in the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad; not only words to murmur)
2. Praying five times a day
3. Paying Zakat
4. Fasting during the month of Ramadan
5. Hajj if you can

Shahada is the testimony of a muslim, or somebody converting to Islam saying "There is not God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger". That's all.

Yes, to testify there is no God but Allah, and Mohammad is his messenger.
It is the first pillar of Islam as words said by the tongue, but it is also the highest degree of Eyman as way of life and deeds done.
