Your Mother and Father probably already has suffered through all the "I want this or that"...

You promised to "feed the critter" and "clean up after the critter" but, poor ol Mom, has to feed and water it, and your no where to be found, when it comes to cleaning up the mess...

So, until they see that you are "responsible enough" to take care of a "living thing", you probably wont GET the dog!!

Dont take it to heart, if after a few years, you quit whinning about wanting this and that, they may suprise you some day, with a puppy all for you...

But, your going to have to work for thier trust, like doing your chores when not told to do this, and keep your room clean, and other things that you should volunteer to do around the house. (This will show that your getting more maturity and responsibility...but, its not an over night thing!)...

Like I said, it may take months, or even a year or two, but, keep it up, (with out moaning and whinning about a dog), and I bet the next time you DO ask for a dog, (make it around 6 months from now), they may take a look at what you have been doing and relent...

Also, make it in the Summer time, so it can be properly potty trained!

I wish you well..

Jesse

Join the Humane Society and volunteer to walk dogs a few times a week. They are in cages all day long and need your love. You can Foster a dog or two this way. That will impress your mom if you do it long enough. It's hard work and much like a job. You have to be there on time since the dogs are rel lying on you to show up . After a while, you'll see your mom become more open to having a pup in the house because she will for sure then know you are responsible enough to have one.

Somehow convince your mom that you are responsible...And the pup will teach you even more responsiblity....Puppies are a lot of work...Somehow get it into her head that you are ready to take on the challenge...Maybe start doing more chores around the house without your parents asking you to...Maybe start cooking dinner...Do great in school...Also if you find a pup you like...Then tell your mom you can either pay for half or all....Or she could pay for it and you could pay for the collar, leash, treats, toys, doggie bed (opt.), dog food, etc., Find people who have dogs or puppies and tell your mom how they are less responsible than you and they take really great care of their puppy....OR dog... Maybe you could run the thought of just starting with a dog..And show your mom you can handle one...And then you can movei into a puppy...But I guess parents dont understand the saying "You dont know untill you try" Even when they say it to us ALL the time!!!!!
Also you dont wanna beg TOO much cuz then they are just gunna say "alright thats it...The final answer is NO! And if you ask one more time then you are never getting a puppy" Or something like that....Good luck!!! It is quite hard getting an animal that your parents dont like and if they dont htink your ready for one...

You should probably not worry about it then. If your mom says no to getting a dog, then she means no. She knows that you will only take care of the dog for about a week, maybe 2. Then the responsibility will creep over into her hands. Your mom has enough responsibility on her tray already. Give your mom a kiss on the cheek and tell her you love her for everything she does for you. That might make her feel "in the mood" for getting you a dog.

Listen to your mom. Yeah, they are cute. But, are you looking forward to having them chew your shoes up....and anything else they can fit their teeth on?

Are you ready to clean up poop five times a day? Have your carpet peed on? And, don't forget the vet bills, etc. Plus there is also the need for flea products once a month. My vet charges 13 bucks just for a one month flea treatment.

Dogs are a lot of work, expense, and can be frustrating. Your mom has a right to say what goes in her house. When you are an adult, you can do whatever you wish in your own.

Not trying to be a smarty pants.....just being realistic.

Try to convince her that raising a dog won't be as burdensome or as big a hassle as she believes it will be. Don't make any empty promises, though (i.e. if you promise to always clean up after the dog and always feed it, make sure you actually follow through with this promise unless an emergency occurs).

A puppy is cute when its small, but it grows up, and it is alot of work to take care of. Depending on your age, are you able to take care of the dog all the time? Why not wait till you are on your own and then get one. Your Mom probably feels she will be stuck taking care of your dog
